Salary range (but not limited to):

80,700 - 98,700

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

We’re seeking a Risk Underwriter (Level II) to join our Trade Credit team. This role is well-suited to candidates from commercial banking, credit risk, or corporate lending backgrounds who enjoy analyzing financials, forming credit views, and partnering with stakeholders to support well-managed portfolio growth.

In this position, you’ll work closely with commercial and risk underwriters to assess counterparty risk and support trade activity for our clients.

What you’ll do

  • Perform counterparty (buyer) credit assessments by reviewing financial statements, reporting, and market/industry information; manage and maintain a portfolio of buyers and strengthen relationships through annual check-in calls and Microsoft Teams meetings; and provide clear, well-documented credit recommendations.
  • Manage a high volume of credit requests, delivering quick turnaround times while maintaining high-quality analysis, clear documentation, and strong adherence to credit policy and approval authorities.
  • Ensure analysis and recommendations align with credit policy, risk appetite, internal rating methodologies, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Deliver timely, high-quality credit commentary and communicate decisions and rationale to commercial underwriters and, where applicable, brokers/partners.
  • Contribute to portfolio outcomes including new business support, retention, limit/capacity management, and relationship maintenance through buyer calls and meetings.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (risk, legal, claims, finance, portfolio management) to evaluate transaction structure, identify risks, and recommend risk mitigation.
  • Support continuous improvement by helping refine credit standards, underwriting guidelines, and process controls and by contributing to product or program enhancements.
  • Build sector knowledge and internal/external networks to strengthen your credit perspective across industries and geographies where exposures exist.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience).
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in financial statement analysis, commercial lending, credit adjudication/underwriting, or credit risk within banking or financial services.
  • Working knowledge of credit structuring, covenant/terms assessment, risk mitigation, and approval documentation.
