Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Control/Simulation Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Unmanned Aerial Systems Control/Simulation Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in developing and implementing simulation models that support various projects, particularly in the defense sector. This position requires a strong understanding of simulation methodologies, along with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

The Simulation

Engineer will contribute to projects that involve aviate technologies and adhere to Federal Aviation Regulations, ensuring high-quality outcomes that meet client specifications.

The is a contract position with possibility of contract extension. Contract positions do not provide benefits or health insurance. All work is remote and work can be done on a flexible schedule, however the candidate must be available for calls and meetings during the Eastern Standard Time hours. Candidates must be a US citizen.

Pay: $70.00 - $100.00 per hour

Required Qualifications

• US citizen

• Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering / Controls

• Fundamental knowledge and understanding of flight dynamics

• 2+ years of experience in the design and analysis of UAS controllers/autopilots

• 1.5+ yrs experience using MATLAB and Simulink (Project teams count as experience)

• Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities

• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

• Proficient in English

• Strong working Python knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering with a focus in Guidance, Navigation, and Controls

• Knowledgeable in object-oriented coding, specifically C++

• Proficient with revision control tools (Git, Bitbucket)

• Dynamic system modeling of fixed-wing and rotorcraft UAS

• Guidance algorithm synthesis, implementation, and analysis
