The FSQA Supervisor for Manufacturing is responsible for all supporting food safety and quality assurance related Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in adherence with regulatory and SQF standards. The position supervises and supports all hourly Team Members (TMs). This will include effectively helping to manage the Quality Assurance TMs whilst ensuring compliance to our manufacturing, food safety and quality standards, which includes approved processes, policies and procedures.

Shifts:  Wednesday-Saturday 6pm-4:30am and 2pm-12:30am

Essential Functions

Provide employee training and instructions to provide advice on how to perform their task (FSQA checks, inspections, documentation, expectations, training)

Support managing the department engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity.

Performing GMP audits.

Develop, motivate, engage, coach, and inspire a team of hourly associates, creating a positive team dynamic that encourages all employees to provide feedback and drive change from within.

Verify CCP checks are completed within the set frequencies and meet the HACCP plan’s critical limits. Any failed, missed, or cancelled check has proper supporting documentation for the non-compliant check.

Monitor the DigiSense temperature system and escalate any non-conformities for temperature abuse to mitigate food safety risk.

Verify truck inspections are completed in a timely manner and escalate any non-conformities for temperature abuse.

Document and submit the daily end of shift report via email.

Update quality numbers in the computer system; can use a computer and type/data entry using computer programs

Monitor and update your department’s staffing metrics and headcount

Coach and train hourly FSQA employees to follow company procedures and processes.

Evaluate team productivity and accomplishments.

Maintain accurate documentation regarding GMPs, HACCP, Holds, and any other FSQA requirements.

Provide and oversee inspection activity for products throughout the production cycle.

Overseeing established calibration and testing program.

Report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

Use structured problem solving and sound process design skills to improve operations as it relates to the product safety

Use effective project management and communication techniques to ensure successful change management

Carry out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization policies and procedures. 

Any and all other functions as determined by management.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position supports managing all hourly employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is in a manufacturing (at times) and assembly environment and is regularly exposed to cool and/or cold temperatures (10º - 40º). The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, reach and lift for a minimum of 10 to 12 hours with or without reasonable accommodation. The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and/or tools. The employee is required to talk or hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position that requires you to be on-site.  Days and hours of work vary according to shift and production schedule. The employee is expected to work no less than the designated 40-hour work week. Significant weekend work depends on production schedules.

 

Travel

Travel​ is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected for support.

Required Education and Experience

Associate degree or related leadership work experience.

At least 3 years of work experience in quality assurance should be combined with a demonstrated track record of accomplishments as a FSQA leader, and with satisfying customers in technology-driven, developing companies.

Ready to eat (RTE) experience a plus

SQF practitioner and/or experience with SQF a plus

Food Safety Manager certification a plus

Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
