ABOUT THE POSITION
The Vice President of Finance / Corporate Controller will serve as a senior finance leader for Elevated Industrial Solutions, a private equity-backed, multi-location industrial distribution platform. This role will report to the CEO and will oversee accounting, financial reporting, treasury, controls, budgeting, forecasting, lender reporting, and financial integration of acquisitions. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on controllership discipline, strong leadership capability, and the ability to support a growing PE-backed business with timely, accurate, and actionable financial information.
WHAT YOU’LL DO IN THIS ROLE
· Own monthly financial reporting packages for executive leadership, the Board, and Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow forecasting, and rolling forecast processes in partnership with operations, sales, procurement, and executive leadership.
· Develop, monitor, and report on key financial and operating metrics, including gross margin, working capital, inventory, AR/AP trends, EBITDA, cash conversion, branch/location profitability, pricing analytics, and margin visibility.
· Prepare and present financial reporting packages for executive leadership, family office sponsors, and lenders, including variance analysis, KPIs, covenant reporting, and commentary on business performance.
· Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
· Own and manage the monthly close process, including bank reconciliations, deferred revenue, intercompany transactions, fixed asset schedules, accruals, corporate credit card reconciliations, and departmental expense classifications.
· Maintain oversight of AP, AR, billing, collections, cash application, and related controls, while serving as backup support for AP and AR processes as needed.
· Manage cash flow, including cash management, forecasting, banking relationships, lender reporting, debt compliance, and covenant requirements.
· Lead and manage the accounting department, including coaching, developing, and holding team members accountable for performance, process discipline, and professional growth.
· Assess accounting operations, internal controls, financial policies, and procedures; recommend and implement improvements to strengthen asset protection, scalability, accuracy, and efficiency.
· Lead ERP, reporting, and accounting system improvements to improve automation, data accuracy, scalability, and close efficiency.
· Partner with operations leadership to improve inventory accuracy, cost controls, margin visibility, and location-level profitability reporting.
· Support diligence requests and financial analysis related to acquisitions, financing, and strategic initiatives.
· Oversee accounting for mergers and acquisitions, including purchase accounting support, integration activities, and post-acquisition process convergence.
· Manage tax, insurance, audit, and external advisor relationships, including acting as the primary liaison with auditors and maintaining audit documentation.
· Collaborate with the leadership team and cross-functional business partners to ensure timely, accurate, and complete data flows between accounting systems, internal databases, and business applications.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including prior Controller, Corporate Controller, VP Finance, or equivalent leadership experience.
- Experience in a private equity-backed, multi-site, distribution, industrial, manufacturing, or inventory-based business strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build scalable accounting processes, improve close timelines, strengthen internal controls, and lead finance transformation in a growing business.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including GAAP financial reporting, purchase accounting, consolidations, intercompany activity, accruals, revenue recognition, and working capital management.
- Experience with acquisitions, integration, due diligence support, quality of earnings requests, and post-close reporting preferred.
- Proven track record of success with establishing, managing, and evolving accounting policies and procedures in early stage, high growth companies.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with ERP, CRM, Power BI, or similar reporting tools preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, experience in effectively and proactively communicating and presenting key data to senior management.
- Ability and desire to translate complex accounting concepts to individuals across all departments at all levels.
- Technologically savvy and able to demonstrate competence across various accounting and software platforms.
