We are working exclusively with a leading financial institution to appoint a VP‑level risk professional into its Treasury Counterparty Credit Risk function.
The role
The Principal Risk Officer will:
- Act as a senior second line of defence risk manager for treasury FI counterparties, providing independent credit opinions on banks, supranationals and key NBFIs.
- Lead the assessment and approval of credit limits and exposures for traded products (including interest‑rate and FX derivatives, repos, securities lending and money market instruments).
- Review and challenge front office proposals and term sheets, ensuring they are consistent with risk appetite, policies and regulatory expectations.
- Provide expert credit input into the negotiation and review of trading legal documentation, including ISDA/CSA, GMRA and GMSLA, with particular focus on netting, collateral, close‑out and enforceability in both core and more challenging jurisdictions.
- Monitor a portfolio of FI counterparties (developed markets and emerging markets), using quantitative and qualitative analysis, stress testing and early‑warning indicators.
About you
You are likely to bring:
- Substantial experience (c. 8–12+ years) in financial institutions credit risk, gained in a major international bank, supranational, rating agency or similar environment.
- A strong track record as a second line credit risk officer / approver for FI or treasury counterparties, including responsibility for setting or recommending limits and approving exposures in derivatives, repos and other traded products.
- Deep understanding of derivatives and securities‑financing transactions (e.g. IRS, FX and cross‑currency swaps, repos, securities lending) and how these generate counterparty credit risk.
- Demonstrable experience providing credit input on trading documentation – at a minimum ISDA/CSA and GMRA – and ideally also GMSLA and related treasury agreements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to distil complex analysis into clear recommendations and to challenge constructively in committee settings.
