About the role

Original posting from SpaceX via Greenhouse

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

WASTEWATER TREATMENT SUPERVISOR (STARLINK)

SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink will provide fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities and places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable. We are looking for talented, creative, and driven supervisors to drive manufacturing tools and processes, from initial concept development to full scale production. You will drive the relationship between engineering, development, and production teams and will interact regularly with department leadership. The success of Starlink depends on the quality, reliability, cost, manufacturability, throughput, security, and user experience of the products that you deliver.

As a Starlink Wastewater Treatment Supervisor, you will manage a team of technicians while working closely with specialists and engineers, driving the operationalization and ramp of a 24/7 state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant with the mission of recycling process water from various Starlink production lines. The supervisor will also drive progress on an hour-by-hour and day-by-day basis by effectively using labor resources, prioritizing work, and setting goals. For this role specifically, it is highly important that the supervisor is an inspiring leader, frequently working side-by-side with their team.

Identify training needs and develop a training program

Provide required data and reporting to support department metrics and improvements

Maximize productivity, efficiency, and quality

Maintain tooling and consumable supply inventory

Continuously improve people, process, and equipment

Identify and mitigate risks to production schedules and targets

Coordinate efforts to minimize production interruptions

Ensure process quality and conformance to specifications

Improve area safety and efficiency through regular auditing and continuous improvement

Use root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions

Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between departments

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of professional experience in a water treatment or wastewater treatment plant in lieu of degree

1+ years of experience leading a team or project

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

2+ years of experience leading a team or project

Lean manufacturing training and experience
