Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Workshop & Inventory Manager to oversee all workshop operations, tools, materials, and global inventory processes to ensure technical readiness for field service activities. This role manages the full lifecycle of parts, consumables, and specialized equipmentensuring availability, accuracy, and compliancewhile driving continuous improvement in workflow, organization, and resource management.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically knowledgeable, and capable of exercising independent judgment in managing workshop standards, inventory systems, vendor coordination, and operational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Workshop Operations Management

  • Oversee daily workshop operations, ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are organized, calibrated, and maintained to support field service activities.
  • Manage workshop workflow, including prioritizing repairs, preparing job kits, and ensuring field engineers have required materials before deployment.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to workshop layout, efficiency, and equipment lifecycle management.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior technicians or support staff.

Inventory & Materials Management

  • Develop and manage inventory control systems for parts, consumables, and specialized equipment, including forecasting needs based on job pipelines and historical usage.
  • Implement standardized processes for receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking materials globally.
  • Conduct periodic audits of tools and inventory to ensure accuracy, readiness, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Evaluate, select, and coordinate with vendors for procurement of parts, tools, and materials; make purchasing recommendations based on technical requirements and operational priorities.

Decision-Making & Autonomy

This role requires a high level of independent judgment and operational discretion. The Workshop & Inventory Manager:

  • Evaluates workshop and inventory requirements, establishes standards for materials readiness, and determines the most effective methods for organizing and maintaining technical resources.
  • Identifies operational gaps and implements solutions that improve service quality, reduce delays, and enhance overall efficiency.
  • Makes informed recommendations regarding equipment upgrades, process changes, vendor selection, and materials procurement.
  • Represents the company in technical discussions with vendors and partners, ensuring alignment with engineering best practices.
  • Works with minimal supervision and is entrusted to manage workshop and inventory responsibilities with a high degree of ownership and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field; OR relevant associate degree/certifications with 45 years of applicable experience.
  • Experience with inventory management, workshop operations, or technical resource coordination.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with vendors, technicians, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital tools for inventory tracking and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to read schematics and interpret technical documentation a plus.
  • Experience in a startup or fast-paced environment is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).

Working Conditions
