About the role

Original posting from SpaceX via Greenhouse

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

BIM SPECIALIST (ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS MODELING)

Building on the rapid advancement of the Starship program, SpaceX is seeking to rapidly develop and retrofit launch infrastructure facilities to support vehicle builds and re-flight refurbishments. We are seeking a Building Information Modeling (BIM) Specialist to lead the modeling, integration and coordination of electrical systems for multi-disciplinary Starship and Super Heavy Booster tooling systems, and facilities infrastructure. This position will serve as a key technical resource, supporting project teams and fostering strong BIM practices throughout the project lifecycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop, maintain, and upgrade detailed 3D BIM models of electrical systems (power distribution, control systems, data acquisition, wire harnesses, routing, cable management, hardware mounting, and equipment placement) using industry-standard software such as Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD,or NX

Own, draft, redline, and maintain electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, panel layouts and prepare related documentation while coordinating 3D model placement of electrical systems with the system Responsible Engineers

Integrate electrical systems with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing (MEP), and other disciplines for Starship facilities and production tooling, in a safe, economical, and reliable way. Lead coordination of electrical systems into living facility models, owning end-to-end integration and electrical documentation ownership

Generate construction documents, quantity takeoffs, visualizations, and as-built drawings from BIM models to support bidding, procurement, on-site execution, and long-term reliability improvements for electrical infrastructure and production systems

Act as a liaison between project stakeholders, internal tooling teams, production leadership, responsible engineers, internal design and construction teams, and third-party consultants throughout the project life cycle

Perform clash detection, model coordination, and constructability reviews focused on electrical systems to identify and resolve conflicts early in design and construction phases

Support the development and maintenance of SpaceX BIM standards, protocols, and workflows for electrical infrastructure; act as the primary technical resource for electrical BIM issues

Lead transition of electrical BIM workflows (including data migration, process documentation, and training); actively drive continuous improvements and optimizations for team processes, quality improvements, faster build times, lower maintenance, project kitting, communication, and feedback loops

Support review and interpretation of power system studies, field data, and electromechanical integration; perform daily task prioritization and risk mitigation; participate in cross-functional meetings providing electrical BIM expertise to inform design decisions

Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure an efficient and effective work environment
