About the role

Original posting from Blend via Greenhouse

Blend is a diverse team of problem solvers who believe that the world’s financial resources should be more accessible. Our cloud banking platform is used by Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, and over 330 other financial services firms to acquire more customers, increase productivity, and deliver end-to-end digital experiences. Our software enables our customers to process an average of more than $5 billion in loans per day, making it possible for consumers to reach their financial goals faster and lead better lives. Come do work that matters.

Business Automation Engineer

As a Business Automation Engineer, you’ll partner with teams across the company to rethink and refactor how work gets done. You’ll find manual and repetitive processes and then design and build automations to improve the quality of work and day-to-day business life of our internal partners. We’re focused on deploying efficient and adaptable automations that actually solve problems.

As one of the first members of the team, you’ll help build the foundation for a scalable hub of automations and integrations, using both off-the-shelf products and custom code where appropriate. You’ll help shape the workflows that make our team an effective and reliable partner for bringing business processes into an automated, AI-augmented world. You’ll work closely with security and IT leadership from the beginning to ensure the team’s foundations and, therefore, the rest of the company’s internal automation efforts are secure, auditable, and built to last.

How You’ll Contribute

Partner with business stakeholder to understand workflows and triage high-impact automation opportunities.

Business, build, and deploy automations across various SaaS tooling, internal systems, and APIs.

Leverage AI and agentic patterns when it adds value to business operations workflows and recognize when simpler, more deterministic solutions are the better choice.

Build with a secure-by-default mindset, including the incorporation of access controls, secrets management, logging, and the proper handling of sensitive information.

Establish team patterns and culture, including documentation, testing, and ongoing operational maintenance.

Be willing to tinker, iterate, and improve existing systems as we gain more context and mastery over the business environment.

Who You Are

3+ years of experience building integrations, internal tooling, or automations in a business or operations setting.

Proficient in at least one scripting language (Python, Javascript, or similar) and/or a general purpose programming language (Typescript, Go, Rust, or similar).

DevOps-minded engineer familiar with infrastructure-as-code tools (Ansible, Terraform, GitHub Actions, containers, etc.).

Hands-on experience building with LLMs and creating agentic workflows (prompting, tool use and curation, benchmarking evaluations, guardrails, etc.).

Experience with workflow or integration platforms (Workato, Zapier, n8n, or similar).

Proactive and pragmatic. Able to translate business processes into effective automations.

Bonus Qualifications

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and serverless or containerized deployments.

Hands-on experience with Kubernetes.

Familiarity with common business systems, such as NetSuite, Salesforce, Workday, Freshservice, and HR tooling.

Background in security, compliance, or working within a regulated or controlled environment.
