The Business Development Team drives supply at Back Market. We secure high-quality refurbished inventory across 17 markets and constantly source high-potential sellers to keep our network competitive and aligned with our business needs. The team is fast-growing; we onboard and nurture great sellers to unlock the right products that our customers want.

As a Business Development Intern, your main priorities centre on qualifying and completing the onboarding journey with Asian sellers. After activation, you will grow sellers’ business, including working with sellers to maximise product selection and acting as a trustworthy bridge between internal stakeholder teams and sellers to deliver the best e-commerce experience for customers on Back Market.

You will be able to contribute to overall business by leading BD enablement projects that unleash the potential of sellers to scale up.

Your Mission (If You Accept It): 🥇

  • Engage high-potential new sellers, qualify and pitch Back Market to drive onboarding in order to contribute to the marketplace's selection growth
  • Manage newly activated sellers through a hybrid approach of dedicated 1:1 account management and pooled coverage, focusing on Sellers' GMV & Quality performance to ensure a profitable and healthy growth for both seller and Back Market
  • Partner with internal functional teams (quality, logistics, finance, legal etc) to support new sellers
  • Constantly explore top sellers on competitors' platforms with global supply origin
  • Support BD seller communication, including 1) be part of the taskforce to lead on seller recruitment or education webinars; 2) developing a Chinese/English content library of BD enablement materials; 3) executing mass communication strategies to engage sellers at scale
  • Drive BD enablement projects that analyse intelligence, surface opportunities & risks, and convert insights into actionable strategies
  • Provide data support, build and maintain trackers and dashboards to support BD initiatives and reporting needs

You’re At The Right Place If: ⭐

  • English and Mandarin are no-brainers (fully professional proficiency in English and Mandarin). If you’re extra cool and speak more languages (e.g. Cantonese, French, German), bonus points for you!
  • Excellent in time management with a great sense of priority and ownership
  • Good organisation & communication skills, with the ability to engage both external and internal stakeholders confidently
  • Detail-oriented and active listener
  • You have an analytical and critical thinking mind - strong use of insights for decision making
  • Ability to work independently with high self-motivation. Positive learning attitude is a must-have
  • Interested in engaging with small to medium-sized businesses and e-commerce; you ideally have previous experience in a related field
  • Interested in fast-growing start-ups preferred
  • Salesforce, SQL, Tableau and/or AI tools experience is a plus, but readiness to learn a must
