The Opportunity

The Real Deal is looking for an entrepreneurial and strategic Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) with a primary mandate to identify, develop, and scale new lines of revenue across the business.

This is not a traditional CRO role focused primarily on the day-to-day management of an existing sales team. While the CRO will provide strategic oversight and work closely with sales leadership to optimize sales structure, market coverage, performance, and revenue opportunities, the role's primary focus will be identifying and developing new revenue streams. The CRO will leverage TRD's brand, audience, content, data, events, products, and industry relationships to uncover new commercial opportunities, strengthen sales effectiveness, and transform these opportunities into meaningful, scalable, and sustainable businesses

The CRO will also work closely with the President and Head of Sales to ensure TRD has the right commercial structure, positionig, marketing support, and incentives to successfully monetize its growing portfolio of products.

Key Responsibilities

New Revenue & Product Development

Identify and develop new revenue streams beyond TRD's existing businesses.

Evaluate market opportunities and translate them into commercially viable products and services.

Build business cases, pricing strategies, go-to-market plans, and revenue models for new initiatives.

Lead new commercial concepts from idea and validation through launch, monetization, and scale.

Identify opportunities across areas such as data, intelligence, subscriptions, licensing, events, digital products, content, and other adjacent businesses.

Strategic Partnerships & Syndication

Develop partnerships that expand TRD's reach, distribution, capabilities, and revenue.

Build and monetize content, data, licensing, and syndication opportunities.

Identify strategic relationships with real estate, financial, technology, media, and other relevant organizations.

Structure and negotiate high-value commercial partnerships.

Commercial & Sales Strategy

Partner with the President and Head of Sales on the overall commercial strategy without becoming the day-to-day manager of the sales organization.

Evaluate sales specialization by product, subject matter, client segment, and geography to maximize revenue across TRD's portfolio.

Identify gaps in TRD's commercial capabilities and recommend solutions.

Product Positioning & Sales Enablement

Work closely with Marketing, Product, and Sales to ensure every commercial product has a clear value proposition and market positioning.

Ensure sales teams have compelling presentations, collateral, case studies, audience data, and other tools needed to effectively sell TRD products.

Help translate new products and capabilities into clear, compelling commercial offerings.

Growth & Executive Leadership

Own the strategic roadmap for revenue diversification and long-term commercial growth.

Establish KPIs and evaluate the performance and scalability of new revenue initiatives.

Bring an entrepreneurial, test-and-learn approach to identifying new business opportunities.

Collaborate closely with executive leadership on company strategy and expansion opportunities.

Qualifications

Significant senior leadership experience in revenue growth, business development, partnerships, product commercialization, or related functions.

Demonstrated track record of creating and scaling new revenue streams, not simply managing an established sales organization.

Strong commercial instincts with the ability to identify opportunities and turn ideas into executable businesses.

Experience developing strategic partnerships, licensing, syndication, or other alternative revenue models.

Experience working with media, information services, data, marketplaces, real estate, technology, or adjacent industries strongly preferred.

Strong understanding of product positioning, pricing, go-to-market strategy, and sales enablement.

Ability to work across Sales, Marketing, Product, Editorial, Events, and executive leadership.

Strong financial and analytical skills, including the ability to assess market opportunities and build business cases.

Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving organization.
