Resident Architect/Cloud Immigration Engineer

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure  |  Job Description

The Opportunity

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is looking for a customer-obsessed Resident Architect to help strategic customers realize sustained business value from OCI. This is a deeply technical, embedded role for an architect who can pair long-term customer proximity with rigorous engineering execution. The Resident Architect becomes a trusted technical partner to customer leaders and delivery teams—helping them run, evolve, and expand production cloud environments while turning risks and opportunities into clear action.

You will work at the intersection of customer architecture, cloud operations, adoption, and growth. You will understand the customer’s critical workloads, operating priorities, and consumption drivers; guide technical decisions; prevent or remove blockers; and connect the right Oracle engineering, product, delivery, partner, and account resources to deliver measurable outcomes.

What You Will Do Own the technical relationship and operating context

Build trusted, durable relationships with customer architects, engineering leaders, platform teams, and operational stakeholders.

Develop a current understanding of the customer’s OCI estate, critical workloads, architecture decisions, operating model, roadmap, risks, and growth opportunities.

Translate business priorities into practical technical plans with clear milestones, owners, dependencies, risks, and success criteria.

Communicate technical progress, tradeoffs, blockers, and decisions clearly to both engineering and executive audiences.

Drive production health, adoption, and expansion

Guide customers through architecture reviews, production-readiness planning, health assessments, performance analysis, resilience improvements, and operational best practices.

Identify workload, service, capacity, architecture, security, reliability, and operational risks early and drive them through resolution.

Help customers adopt additional OCI capabilities and expand strategic workloads by connecting technical opportunities to business outcomes and a credible path to production.

Use consumption, workload, forecast, and engagement signals to distinguish realized progress from risk, surface upside, and maintain an accurate view of customer priorities.

Lead complex engineering execution

Coordinate customer engineering teams, systems integrators, Oracle delivery services, product teams, and account teams around the technical actions required to achieve outcomes.

Lead or contribute to architecture reviews, technical validations, migration and modernization planning, troubleshooting, escalation management, and post-incident improvement.

Engage OCI engineering and product teams with well-defined customer context, evidence, impact, and requirements; help manage dependencies through resolution.

Maintain disciplined engagement records and forecasts so customer status, risks, dependencies, decisions, and measurable outcomes are visible and decision-useful.

Create leverage beyond one customer

Turn recurring customer patterns into reusable architectures, operating practices, technical guidance, automation, and feedback that improve outcomes across the organization.

Share technical expertise and mentor peers while raising the quality of customer engagements and production operations.

Bring customer insights to Oracle teams to improve products, services, and the way OCI is adopted and operated.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong experience in cloud architecture, solution engineering, technical consulting, site reliability engineering, platform engineering, or a comparable customer-facing technical role.

Experience designing, deploying, or operating enterprise-scale cloud environments on OCI or another major public cloud platform.

Technical depth across several of the following: compute, networking, storage, identity and security, Kubernetes and cloud-native platforms, databases, observability, automation, high availability, disaster recovery, migration, modernization, data, or AI infrastructure.

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems, manage technical escalations, and lead structured problem resolution across organizations.

Experience working with customer engineering teams, systems integrators, professional services, product engineering, and account teams without direct authority.

Ability to connect technical choices to reliability, performance, security, cost, operational efficiency, and customer business outcomes.

Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage credibly with hands-on engineers and senior technology leaders.

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience is welcome.

The Person We Are Looking For

You are an engineer at heart who enjoys being close to the customer’s real environment and accountable for progress over time. You bring curiosity, sound judgment, and technical credibility to ambiguous problems. You are equally comfortable reviewing an architecture, investigating a production issue, facilitating a decision, and explaining the path forward to leaders. You care about durable customer outcomes, not just completing tasks—and you know when to lead directly, when to orchestrate, and when to bring in the right specialist.

Build trusted, durable relationships with customer architects, engineering leaders, platform teams, and operational stakeholders.

Develop a current understanding of the customer’s OCI estate, critical workloads, architecture decisions, operating model, roadmap, risks, and growth opportunities.

Translate business priorities into practical technical plans with clear milestones, owners, dependencies, risks, and success criteria.

Communicate technical progress, tradeoffs, blockers, and decisions clearly to both engineering and executive audiences.
