Correspondence & Appeals Officer

£36,693 - £37,794 per annum

1 Fixed-Term post (12 months)

Hybrid working with one or two days in the office, dependent on service delivery. Equipment will be provided.

We are looking to appoint a Correspondence & Appeals Officer to join our dedicated Parking Services team on a 12-month fixed-term basis.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of ensuring that Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) enquiries and representations are handled efficiently and professionally at every stage of the PCN process. You will ensure responses are provided within statutory timeframes and in accordance with legislation, policies, and procedures.

Additionally, you will play a crucial role in preparing case summaries and evidence packs for adjudication hearings at the parking tribunal service. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact and contribute to the smooth operation of our parking services and the wider aims of the Environment and Sustainable Transport service.

Previous experience working within the parking industry and handling parking-related correspondence and complaints is highly desirable; however, training will be provided. The successful candidate will be required to investigate and respond appropriately to penalty charge notice representations, appeals, and enquiries in line with legislation and council policies. Additionally, the officer must possess excellent IT and administration skills, as they will be required to manage their own caseload and support other team members when necessary.

Attention to detail is paramount, along with a genuine commitment to and experience in delivering first-class customer service. The role also demands strong critical thinking and investigative skills to thoroughly examine cases and make informed decisions. Excellent letter writing skills are essential to communicate effectively and professionally with all stakeholders.

If you are interested in working with the Parking Service then please submit a supporting statement, ideally no more than two sides of an A4 explaining how your knowledge, skills and experience meet the criteria set out in the personnel specification within the Job Description. Please note that we do not consider standalone CVs.
