About the role

Original posting from Xai via Greenhouse

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary and expanding consciousness to the stars.

SpaceXSI is building Super Intelligence to help humanity understand the universe. Our teams are building the full Super Intelligence stack: from our Colossus supercomputers, to Grok models, to our suite of applications, including Grok Bot, Grok Build, Grok Imagine, Grok Voice, and X. We're creating a powerful flywheel where more compute trains better models, better models power more useful products, and what we learn from people using those products shapes what we build next.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This Data Visualization Engineer is a versatile, hands-on builder who owns how 𝕏 turns data into decisions. They will administer our current BI platform, build dashboards quickly, and partner with the business to shape a modern, unified reporting and analytics solution.

Supporting 12 department sites and their Site Admins, plus about 700 users, including owning the tbl-site-admins and tableau Slack channels

Handling all BI requests through Slack and Jira (about 12 a week): access, ownership changes, data source issues, troubleshooting, and fixing bugs

Communicating proactively with Site Admins, users, and developers about downtime, upgrades, and widespread issues

Quickly designing and building dashboards and data products that turn complex data into clear, decision-ready insight

Maintaining an inventory of existing reports and dashboards and working with business owners to decide what to migrate, rebuild, or retire

Helping stakeholders pick the right solution for each use case (dashboard, custom application, Grok team bot, and so on) and leading the migration to it

Setting standards for data access, row-level security, and visualization quality

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong SQL, including complex joins, window functions, and performance tuning

Data visualization and dashboard design: chart selection, UX, and storytelling with data

Row-level security and data access controls

Platform administration fundamentals: SSO/SAML, APIs, and monitoring

Comfort using AI tools to speed up analysis, development, and migrations

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Data modeling and warehouse concepts (star schemas, semantic layers) on platforms such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Databricks

Python or JavaScript for data prep, automation, or custom visuals

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

$132,000 - $198,000 USD

Base salary is just one part of our total rewards package at SpaceXSI, which also includes equity, comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short & long-term disability insurance, life insurance, and various other discounts and perks.
