About the role

Original posting from Figure AI via Greenhouse

Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots. The goal of the company is to ship humanoid robots with human level intelligence. Its robots are engineered to perform a variety of tasks in the home and commercial markets. Figure is headquartered in San Jose, CA.

We are looking for a Deployment Engineering Intern to join our Commercial Operations team for Winter 2027. This role works directly with deployment engineers and the pilot team to make our humanoid robots easier to operate and troubleshoot in real-world settings. You will help triage and organize issues from the field: reproducing problems, spotting patterns and preparing clear, well-documented reports for the deployment engineering team. You'll also turn what you learn into documentation and training that helps pilots troubleshoot on their own.

Responsibilities:

Triage incoming field issues alongside deployment engineers. Reproduce problems, gather logs and context, and build a playbook for pilots to reference for common issues.

Test software and hardware changes and gather feedback from pilot team to create robust SOP and technical systems.

Build and maintain a system that keeps technical documentation and training up to date as software and hardware change.

Develop curriculum that strengthens pilots' troubleshooting skills, and help coaches teach it efficiently.

Shadow deployment engineers on bug triage, issue tracking, and testing, and turn what you learn into better documentation.

Collect feedback from pilots and coaches and communicate gaps clearly to engineering.

Requirements:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Electrical, Computer, or Robotics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Minimum 10 weeks internship, starting January 2027.

Excellent problem solving and debugging skills.

Strong technical writing skills and the ability to explain complex concepts simply.

Comfortable learning new systems quickly and working hands-on with hardware.

Organized and self-directed, with good judgment in a fast-paced environment.

Clear communicator who works well with pilots, coaches, and engineers.

Bonus Qualifications:

Experience creating tutorials, training materials, or teaching (TA, tutoring, mentoring).

Familiarity with Linux, Python, or debugging robotic or automated systems.

Experience with project management or documentation tools (Confluence, Jira, Notion).

The US base pay range for this full-time position is $35.00 to $40.00 per hour.

The pay offered for this position may vary based on several individual factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional components/benefits depending on the specific role. This information will be shared if an employment offer is extended.
