Overview

AvePoint is seeking a Director, Business Intelligence to lead the global production BI operating model and turn governed enterprise data products into trusted, scalable reporting experiences. This role is accountable for how certified semantic models, Power BI solutions, controlled reporting, and production support are industrialized across the business - with clear standards for quality, release management, lifecycle ownership, and service delivery.

The Director, Business Intelligence will partner closely with Analytics and Data Engineering, which own business partnership, enterprise metric governance, Gold data products, advanced insights, and the underlying data platform. BI will consume those governed foundations and make them production-ready for leaders and teams across Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Finance, Product, People, and Operations. The ideal leader combines strong technical BI judgment with disciplined people management, global delivery leadership, and the ability to build a high-leverage operating model that scales through standards, reusable models, domain alignment, and AI-ready consumption.

Key Responsibilities:

Own the global BI strategy, operating model, service catalog, roadmap, and delivery standards for production reporting and semantic model deployment.

Lead BI intake, prioritization, assignment, capacity planning, and delivery coordination; group demand into business themes and provide transparent status, dependencies, and business value to Analytics and executive stakeholders.

Establish clear handoff criteria from Analytics prototypes and governed data products into BI production, including certification, QA, documentation, regression testing, release management, support, and retirement.

Own production Power BI and semantic model engineering standards, including model performance, Direct Lake patterns, security, RLS, refresh reliability, QA, release controls, monitoring, SOX/controlled reporting requirements, and production support.

Partner with Analytics to consume approved enterprise metrics and Gold data products without recreating or redefining business logic inside reports; escalate gaps in definitions, lineage, source quality, or data contracts.

Build a domain-aligned BI delivery model across priority AvePoint 360 domains, with dedicated or clearly aligned BI engineering capacity for Customer/Sales/Partner, Commercial Growth, Product, and People data products as demand matures.

Design and lead a global resourcing model that effectively uses existing teams and locations, including shared delivery partnerships, follow-the-sun support, and selective hiring where additional capacity or business proximity is required.

Develop BI engineers and emerging leaders through coaching, technical standards, clear ownership, and rotational domain assignments that broaden business context while reducing key-person dependency.

Drive report and semantic model rationalization by maintaining production inventory, eliminating duplicate logic, retiring legacy assets after validated migration, improving reuse, and tracking operating measures such as ownership clarity, incidents, cycle time, adoption, and recovered Analytics capacity.

Partner with Analytics on AI and self-service readiness by ensuring production semantic models, metadata, security, documentation, and reporting outputs are trustworthy and reusable by both people and Data Agents.

Qualifications:

Significant experience leading Business Intelligence, enterprise reporting, semantic modeling, analytics engineering, or a closely related function in a complex organization.

Proven people leadership experience managing and developing technical BI teams; experience leading across regions, time zones, or distributed delivery models strongly preferred.

Deep expertise with Microsoft Power BI and modern semantic model architecture; experience with Microsoft Fabric, Direct Lake, OneLake, deployment pipelines, AI-enabled analytics, or comparable cloud data platforms strongly preferred.

Strong understanding of dimensional and semantic modeling, DAX, SQL, performance optimization, RLS/security, report architecture, governed self-service, and production support practices.

Experience establishing BI engineering standards, QA and regression testing, CI/CD or release management, monitoring, documentation, and report lifecycle governance.

Ability to distinguish enterprise metric governance and data-product ownership from BI production responsibilities, and to partner effectively with Analytics and Data Engineering without duplicating accountability.

Demonstrated success managing intake, prioritization, workload balancing, stakeholder expectations, and a portfolio of production BI assets based on business value and capacity.

Experience rationalizing legacy reports or semantic models and migrating users toward governed, reusable enterprise data products while maintaining business continuity.

Experience with controlled or audit-sensitive reporting, including SOX-related processes, data quality controls, ownership documentation, or similar governance requirements preferred.

Strong communication, technical judgment, and change-management skills, with the ability to review architecture, coach engineers, explain tradeoffs, lead through influence, and build durable partnerships across Analytics, Engineering, Finance, RevOps, Product, and other business functions.
