About the role

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is the premier grassroots organization focused on advocating solutions to the country’s greatest challenges. We recognize that tens of millions of Americans are frustrated with the extreme partisanship in government that keeps common-sense reforms from being passed, and instead seek to stand with policy leaders who are committed to finding a better way.

Americans for Prosperity is part of the Stand Together philanthropic community.

The Director of Grassroots Operations (DOGO) is a senior leader on the state leadership team responsible for building, scaling, and optimizing AFP’s grassroots field capability and plays a critical part in developing talent, executing grassroots strategy, and driving community impact.

You are a people leader and oversee the full grassroots talent lifecycle—from recruiting and onboarding to coaching, performance management, and long-term development—while ensuring your team delivers high-impact results across events, volunteer activation, and policy engagement.

This role will be working in the field and be based in Texas.

How You Will Contribute::

Design and execute statewide grassroots strategies to advance aligned public policy and deliver measurable outcomes across key priority initiatives

Lead, coach, and supervise a multi-layered grassroots team and ensure field activities (events, canvassing, outreach) are legally compliant and operationally sound

Help your team develop their individual abilities and strengths that can make a meaningful impact for the organization

Develop a portfolio of field tactics to drive volunteer engagement, advocacy, and community impact

Own the data strategy for grassroots execution, including voter/advocate universe creation and targeting while also ensuring data integrity

Partner with internal teams (Electoral Strategy, Policy, Strategy & Operations, Education & Training), vendors, and coalition partners to align grassroots efforts with broader organizational goals and national efforts

Partner with leadership to deliver measurable outcomes across key priority initiatives

Collaborate with data and implementation teams to support targeting, reporting, and field execution

Own the full field employee lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, development, and offboarding and build and maintain a strong hiring pipeline across grassroots roles within your state

Drive adoption and proficiency of internal knowledge systems (expense management, CRM, grassroots tools)

What You Will Bring::

A deep belief in people-empowering, bottom-up, public policy solutions that limit the coercive nature of government and empower individuals to pursue their American Dream

Leadership skills! We need someone with proven experience supervising large, multi-layered teams and the humility to embrace our growth-focused culture.

Demonstrated ability to develop and execute grassroots campaigns, large public policy events, and community engagement strategies.

A deep understanding of the local, state, and national electoral and public policy landscape, the legislative process, and grassroots communities

Comfort working with data systems, reporting tools, and performance tracking

Experience working with CRM’s and/or voter management systems like i360

Comfort and confidence working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment independent of direct supervision or direction. We need a go-getter who can figure out how to overcome new and unique challenges!

The ability to travel at least 25% of the time and a valid driver’s license.

Enthusiasm to contribute to Stand Together's vision and principled approach to solving problems, and a commitment to stewarding our culture, which champions values including transformation and innovation, entrepreneurialism, humility, and respect.
