About Woven by Toyota

Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s once-in-a-century transformation into a mobility company. Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society.

Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.

=========================================================================

TEAM:

The Software Architecture’s mission is to derive the best software architecture for the customer, taking into account various AD/ADAS system requirements, preconditions, specifications, and constraints. We cover two types of architecture: an abstract logical architecture that provides guidelines for some AD/ADAS functions placement, and a physical architecture that takes hardware performance and constraints into account. The derived software architecture will satisfy the customer's requirements in terms of quality, cost, etc. to the greatest extent.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?:

As a software engineer, you will pursue a variety of architectural design tasks, from acquiring requirements, to building logical structures, and finally to determining functional placement taking into account various physical constraints. You are always learning and finding innovative solutions to build robust systems, and you are used to working with a variety of teams focused on the goal of making the best product for users. You’re passionate about helping to make the best automotive product possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design AD/ADAS integrated software architecture specifications for embedded software systems
  • Elicit and analyze functional and non-functional requirements
  • Prioritize requirements and design AD/ADAS software architectures that optimally satisfy them
  • Define CPU and software-component allocation and software scheduling, considering hardware constraints; design and manage the utilization of memory and other hardware resources
  • Evaluate hardware resource utilization, including processing load and memory capacity, and develop mitigation plans when resource limits are exceeded
  • Establish software architecture design strategies and development processes
  • Report to the Engineering Manager and the role is hybrid - 3 days in office per week

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of embedded software development, e.g., 4+ years of professional experience in the field
  • Practical experience in requirements elicitation, analysis, and definition for embedded software development
  • Knowledge of software platforms and middleware, such as POSIX, RTOS, Ubuntu, ROS, and QNX
  • Knowledge of programming languages, such as C, C++, Python, Java, JavaScript, and C#
  • Business-level proficiency in Japanese
  • Conversational-level English communication ability of TOEIC 730 or higher

NICE TO HAVES:

  • Experience designing software architectures for embedded software development
  • Knowledge of software development for SoC-based embedded systems featuring multicore processors, GPUs, and hardware accelerators
  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience developing autonomous driving (AD) or advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS)
