ABOUT POLYMARKET

Polymarket is the world's largest prediction market. In the US, we operate a CFTC-regulated exchange and clearinghouse, which comes with real obligations to protect our markets and our users. We recently launched our Trust & Safety program and are building surveillance and compliance capabilities in-house. Engineering is the team that makes those commitments work in production.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the systems that keep Polymarket fair and safe: identity and onboarding, fraud and financial crime controls, market surveillance, and user protections. You'll partner closely with our Trust & Safety, Surveillance, and Compliance leaders. They define the policy and run the investigations, and your team builds the detection, controls, and tools that make their work possible at scale.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own identity verification and onboarding systems (KYC), including vendor integrations, decisioning, and the edge cases that come with them.
  • Build fraud and financial crime controls: payment risk checks, AML transaction monitoring, and sanctions screening.
  • Build trade and market surveillance that detects manipulation, wash trading, spoofing, and misuse of non-public information, and produce the alerts our surveillance analysts act on.
  • Ship user protections such as deposit limits, self-exclusion, and responsible trading controls, and make them reliable across the product.
  • Build case management and investigation tooling for the Surveillance, Compliance, and Trust & Safety teams, with the audit trails and records a regulated exchange needs.
  • Hire and lead a team of senior engineers, set the technical direction, and balance user friction against risk with good judgment.

What we're looking for

  • 8+ years in software engineering and 2+ years managing engineers.
  • Experience building trust and safety, integrity, fraud, risk, or surveillance systems at a company operating at meaningful scale.
  • Comfort working in a regulated environment and translating compliance requirements into concrete system design.
  • Strong data-intensive systems skills: event streams, rules engines, detection pipelines, and the tradeoffs between real-time and batch.
  • Collaboration with non-engineering partners. You'll work with policy, investigations, and compliance teams every day.

•(Plus) Experience at an exchange, broker, or crypto platform with trade surveillance or AML obligations.

•(Plus) Familiarity with surveillance and compliance vendors (for example trade surveillance platforms, KYC providers, or blockchain analytics).

•(Plus) Applied ML or anomaly detection experience for fraud or abuse.

•(Plus) Experience across both centralized and on-chain products.

BENEFITS

  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Health, vision, and dental coverage
  • 401(k) match
  • Full hardware setup: new MacBook Pro, large display, and accessories

PAY TRANSPARENCY

Base salary range: $250,000 to $400,000 annually, plus equity and benefits.

This range reflects a good-faith estimate for this position. Experience levels vary widely within a title here, so please reach out even if your expectations fall outside it. We're always happy to chat.
