Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

As a talented Environment Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer, you will support the environment, health and safety compliance for different functions and projects across the company.

Key Responsibilities / Tasks:

Compliance of Health Safety Environment:

  • Ensure the organization complies with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards set by local, national, and EU agencies. (Mandatory trainings, required documentation towards french governmental agencies)
  • Support the implementation, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies aimed at minimizing workplace hazards and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and processes to ensure ongoing compliance with EHS standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Propose improvements to the system and monitor KPI to ensure a zero accident policy.
  • Assist on proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste, minimizing environmental impact.

EHS Management:

  • Actively promotes workplace health, safety, and environmental concerns across all tiers of the organization, from executive leadership to operational staff, by ensuring access to relevant training programs and the rollout of EHS awareness campaigns and introductory initiatives.
  • Performs and support risk analysis, helping employees reduce risk exposure, by implementing adequate measures concordantly to applicable regulations
  • Develop and coordinate robust emergency response plans and procedures to handle potential emergencies such as fires, chemical spills, or natural disasters effectively.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Project Safety:

  • Provide expert advice on health and safety matters related to product and projects contributing to risk management process and hazard analysis at project level (FMEA, HAZID, HAZOP)
  • Support teams all along project life (from cradle to life) to ensure adherence to applicable requirements and propose actions to contain risk exposure.

WHAT WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE FROM YOU

In the role of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer ideally, you will have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety management or a closely related field
  • First experience in an EHS role, preferably within one of the following industries: aerospace, oil & gas, automotive or similar
  • Knowledge of French EHS regulations (Code du travail; ICPE)
  • Experience with risk assessment methodologies, safety audits, and incident investigation,
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills,
  • Excellent communication skills in both French and English,
  • Be a unifying force and encourage everyone to follow
  • Detail and solution-oriented mindset with a strong ability to work independently,
  • Support and deploy culture change to create a culture of safety
  • Knowledge of the standards ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
