At Black Box, our Field Engineers are more than technical experts — they’re innovators, problem solvers, and trusted advisors who help customers unlock the full power of emerging technologies. As a Field Engineer, you will be the technical face of our organization, supporting installations end-to-end, driving solution innovation, and elevating customer confidence through exceptional engineering skill and leadership.

What You’ll Do

Be the Technical Authority

Deliver hands-on technical expertise throughout the entire project lifecycle — preinstallation, installation, validation, and closeout.

Ensure all Commercial Services systems are designed and functioning to meet customer expectations.

Validate audit remediation efforts and confirm final outcomes to match customer requirements.

Lead Innovation & Continuous Improvement

Stay current on emerging technologies through ongoing manufacturer and industry training.

Partner with senior level customer contacts to understand needs, provide expert guidance, and deliver compelling technical presentations.

Build trust through responsiveness, clear communication, and exceptional follow-through.

Support sales, solution engineering, and delivery teams with deep technical insights and mentorship.

Advance Technology Excellence

Gather, track, and update technical data, tools, resources, and best practices.

Translate complex technical challenges into practical, scalable solutions for customers.

Communicate advanced concepts clearly to audiences at all levels — including large groups or executive stakeholders.

Adapt & Contribute

Support additional technical tasks as needed to ensure project and customer success.

What Helps You Succeed

You’ll thrive in this role if you bring:

A strong ability to work independently and collaboratively across diverse teams.

Analytical thinking and the curiosity to research and resolve complex technical issues.

Strong project management skills — from planning through execution.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

A highly organized, detail-oriented mindset with strong prioritization skills.

Relationship building skills and a customer first approach.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.

A valid driver’s license/passport and flexibility to work overtime when needed.

What You Bring

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or other related disciplines. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in the construction industry in a similar role. Experience with large, structured cabling projects and/or data center construction projects highly preferred.

Ability to travel 0–25% depending on project needs.

Preferred professional certifications
