About Plasmidsaurus

Plasmidsaurus is on a mission to accelerate new cures and promote a healthier planet by unlocking a new level of productivity for scientists. Our sequencing services are used daily by thousands of innovators, including Nobel laureates, Fortune 100 pharma, and over 70,000 scientists.

We began by revolutionizing plasmid sequencing, making it exponentially cheaper and faster, with innovative sequencing technologies and a global network of laboratories that turn samples into answers in hours, not weeks.

Now we are expanding that same disruptive model across all of genomics. With the launch of our new RNA-seq service, we are taking a bold step toward our vision to sequence everything, providing scientists everywhere with faster, simpler, and more affordable access to the data that powers discovery.

Every team member at Plasmidsaurus plays a crucial role in driving the future of biotech research. Together, we are building the world’s most efficient sequencing engine that operates overnight, scales globally, and helps scientists make breakthroughs faster than ever before.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Merch, Events, and Brand Experience, you'll scale the in-person presence that puts our sequencing services directly in front of the scientists who use them every day. You'll own execution across our field marketing calendar, including major scientific conferences, sales account-based events, and a new North American roadshow program, turning each one into an on-brand touchpoint that builds pipeline and deepens trust with our scientific community.

This is a hands-on role for someone who's as comfortable packing a booth crate and running a load-in as they are building a run-of-show or briefing a booth team. We build our own booths and don't rely on external events agencies. Within your first year, you'll run a major conference on your own and build programs that don't exist yet.

Based in South San Francisco, 3 days a week in the office.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

TRADESHOW & CONFERENCE EXECUTION

  • Plan and execute our tradeshow calendar of major scientific conferences and society meetings, such as ASHG, AACR, PAG, and ASM.
  • Design and build our booths, from layout to on-site setup.
  • Own booth logistics, shipping, signage, staffing schedules, and lead capture across single-booth, double-booth, and international formats.
  • Brief and direct booth teams of about 10, including scientists and executives, on messaging, demos, and goals.
  • Coordinate show organizers, general contractors, AV, and catering directly, on time and on budget.
  • Serve as event project manager before each show, coordinating across Marketing, Sales, Product, R&D, and leadership.
  • Take conferences on your own when the calendar overlaps.

FIELD MARKETING & SALES EVENTS

  • Develop, plan, and execute field marketing programs: sales account-based events, roadshows, and regional user meetings.
  • Design and build a North American roadshow program from scratch.
  • Take sales-led events beyond today's playbook, raising the brand bar at each one.
  • Coordinate logistics from venue sourcing through teardown.
  • Align events with Sales account priorities and pipeline goals, and own lead handoff and follow-up.
  • Build a multi-channel outreach and promotional plan for each event.
  • Work with the social media team on event content, including attendee sharing.

OPERATIONS & REPORTING

  • Own budgets, vendor and venue coordination, contracts, timelines, and shipping.
  • Track leads, cost per lead, and attendee feedback, and use them to improve future events.
  • Help build and maintain the field marketing calendar and budget tracker, flagging risks early.

BRAND & ON-SITE STAFFING

  • Work with Brand and Design so booths, signage, and collateral reflect our brand and voice.
  • Travel to events, including evenings and weekends around show dates, to lead setup, staffing, and teardown.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

THE FIRST THREE MONTHS

You've worked our January conferences, including the prep, and know how our booth comes together. You’ve learned the process of running a conference from prep to execution to measurement and debrief, the Plasmidsaurus way.

WITHIN SIX MONTHS

You've worked four major conferences across single-booth, double-booth, and international formats and are ready to lead one. Booth teams, including senior staff, follow your direction with confidence.

WITHIN ONE YEAR

You've run a major conference on your own and supported every show on our calendar. Sales-led events get hands-on support and are as on-brand as our conferences. A North American roadshow program is designed and piloted, and every event feeds measurable pipeline. You're a right hand and thought partner to the team.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • 3–5 years in field marketing, event marketing, or trade show and conference coordination.
  • Startup or scale-up experience strongly preferred; life science, genomics, or biotech background a plus.
  • Conference booth experience end to end preferred; retail pop-ups or brand activations also count.
  • Experience with field programs beyond the show floor (roadshows, user meetings, regional sales events) a plus.
  • End-to-end event logistics: shipping, show-site services, general contractors, AV, catering, and venue sourcing.
  • Budget tracking and vendor management, including contracts.
  • Lead capture, scoring, and handoff with Sales using Salesforce and HubSpot; Popl and Luma a plus.
  • Run-of-show, staffing schedules, and booth-team briefings.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace.
  • Comfortable with hands-on booth builds with no install crew, including lifting 15+ lb boxes.
  • Experience working with large teams and senior leadership.

WAYS OF WORKING

Build. Creative and scrappy, you find ways to stand out against much larger competitors. You build programs from 0 to 1 and evolve the booth from show to show instead of resting on what worked.

Own. Operations come first. You juggle events, vendors, shipments, and deadlines without dropping the ball, and you come with plans instead of waiting for direction.

Move. Something is always missing, late, or broken at a show. You think on your feet and fix it fast, without it showing.

Participate. Confident directing teams that include senior leaders and executives, and a thought partner who brings back ideas from walking the show floor.

Inspire. Aesthetically inclined, with an eye for detail and brand. You notice when a booth, table, or sign doesn't look right and fix it on site.

We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't perfectly align with the job description as we seek out diverse and creative perspectives. Team members who love to learn and collaborate in an inclusive environment will thrive with us. We are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
