About the role

Original posting from Conduct via Ashby

TL;DR: Be one of the first operators on the ground in New York. You'll work alongside a fast-growing New York team to build Conduct's US home from scratch, from the office and the culture to the events that put us on the map, and own whatever needs owning along the way. It's the closest seat you can get to building a generational company, at the moment it goes global.

WHY CONDUCT

We believe the world's largest companies should move at the speed of their ideas, not the speed of the decade-old systems they run on. Today they don't.

Every process change, every new product line runs into software systems layered with decades of custom code and complexity no human mind can fully comprehend. New requirements take months to ship, system migrations cost $100M+ and years of pain.

We're building the AI operating system that absorbs this complexity and gives enterprises back their speed and ambition. Major enterprises already trust us with their most critical systems, we've closed game-changing SI partnerships, just raised a $60M Series A, and demand is outpacing what we can service.

We're a small, talent-dense team doing our life's work out of London and NYC. Extreme ownership, high velocity, low-ego collaboration. What you build here shapes the company and how the world's largest companies operate. We sponsor visas and are convinced diverse teams build better products, so we especially encourage underrepresented groups in tech to reach out.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

We’ve just opened our New York office and the US team is growing quickly. You’ll be one of the people making it work day to day: running the office, organizing events and helping new people settle in. A lot of it is being built for the first time, so you’ll work it out as you go. You might spend one week looking at new office spaces and the next hosting an event for engineers or getting a new hire set up. Much of the work happens behind the scenes, so we’re looking for someone who cares about getting the details right.

In practice:

  • Run events that put Conduct on the map, from our own meetups to partner events with the best companies in AI and tech
  • Support US hiring from first interview to first day: help run interviews and onsites, make sure every candidate has a great experience in our office, and help new hires land well after onboarding in London
  • Making Conduct’s New York home today, from facilities, to team events, to helping find, design, and move into future offices
  • Own culture on the ground in New York, from socials to team rituals, as part of our global ops team, making sure every office feels like one Conduct
  • Build the operational backbone of our US business, partnering with our legal and finance teams to put the systems in place that let us scale fast
  • Spot what's slowing the team down and build the fix

WHO WE HIRE

You're sharp, organized and great with people. You love having lots on your plate, you learn fast, and you're excited to help build something from the ground up.

In practice that tends to look like:

  • You've worked somewhere fast-moving and you know what a high bar looks like
  • You get things done properly and you don't drop balls, even when you're juggling ten of them
  • You're comfortable around founders, customers and senior leaders
  • You're highly responsible with the details that matter, from budgets to contracts
  • You're happy to do whatever needs doing today, and ambitious about where it takes you tomorrow
  • You're based in New York (or ready to be) and excited to be in the office every day
