About the role

As an intern in the CTO office at Get Ivy, you'll dive into the operational side of IT, ensuring that access management, tooling setup, and compliance prep are seamless, making you a crucial part of the team's effort to scale towards a banking license.

Original posting from Augustus via Ashby

Few people get to build a bank from scratch. Even fewer get to build one at a moment when banking itself is being reinvented.

The Dollar is the best product in the history of the world - there is infinite global demand. But International Fintechs and non-US banks are left with two unsatisfying options to access it: Either they build on legacy clearing banks that are slow and unreliable, or they interface with middleware providers that don’t move and hold the dollars directly, but themselves rely on underlying legacy banks. Augustus collapses this stack by combining two things: A real, national bank charter (in organization), and Marble, our proprietary core banking system, built around intelligence, made of code.

We are a group of operators, unicorn early employees, ex-founders and people who walked away from degrees because they believe this is an industry and career defining opportunity. We are backed with more than $200M from Peter Thiel's Valar Ventures, Tiger Global, Hummingbird, QED, Creandum, and the founders of Nubank, Ramp, Deel, Circle, Fluidstack, Fuse, and n8n.

We are regulated in Europe and live with Euro and Stablecoin clearing today. Now, we are building the US team from the ground up, while continuing to grow rapidly in Europe.

THE ROLE

You’re a Fellow at Augustus, deployed to special projects across engineering, product, and the wider company. You own a project end to end: understand the problem, decide how to approach it, build the solution, and get it into use.

The work depends on where you can have the most impact. You could build background coding agents, create a frontend component library, or solve an operational problem with agents. The common thread is a meaningful problem, a clear outcome, and ownership of getting it done.

You’ll work closely with the team your project sits in. They provide context, technical guidance, and direct feedback. You bring the drive to turn an open-ended problem into something that works. As you deliver, the scope and difficulty of your projects grow.

YOUR FIRST MONTHS

Get context quickly, ship early, and take on harder problems as you prove yourself.

  • Month 1: Join a team, understand the problem, and take ownership of your first project. Talk to the people who will use what you build, agree on what success looks like, and ship an initial version.
  • Months 2–3: Drive the project through to adoption. Work through technical decisions, collect feedback, and improve the solution. You’re becoming more independent and developing better judgment about where to spend your time.
  • Months 4–6: Take on a larger project or a harder problem, potentially in another team. You can turn an ambiguous brief into a plan, make sound tradeoffs, and deliver with less guidance.

WHO WILL THRIVE AT AUGUSTUS

We care most about your trajectory, drive, and curiosity. You don’t need years of experience. You need evidence that you learn quickly, push yourself, and finish things.

  • Steep trajectory. You’re getting better fast. The problems you can solve today are meaningfully harder than those you could solve six months ago. You seek feedback and put it to work.
  • Drive. You make things happen. You find a way through unfamiliar problems, follow up without being chased, and stay with a project until it works.
  • Curiosity. You want to understand how things work and why. You dig into unfamiliar systems, ask precise questions, and look beyond the first plausible answer.
  • Ownership. You care about the outcome. You involve the right people, raise blockers early, and check that what you shipped actually solves the problem.
  • Low ego. You can defend an idea, change your mind, and commit to a team decision. You care more about getting it right than getting credit.

This fellowship is for you if:

  • You’ve built things outside a course or job because you wanted them to exist.
  • You want an ambitious problem and room to figure it out.
  • You enjoy moving between unfamiliar tools, systems, and domains.
  • You’re willing to do the less exciting work that makes a project useful: testing, documentation, rollout, and iteration.
  • You want direct feedback and responsibility that grows with your ability.

You’ll struggle here if:

  • You need a complete specification before you can start.
  • You’re more interested in starting projects than finishing them.
  • You wait for someone else to notice that you’re blocked.
  • You only want to work within a narrow, predefined remit.

HARD REQUIREMENTS

  • Available for 3–6 months.
  • Based in Berlin or willing to relocate for an in-person fellowship.
  • Able to build working software, demonstrated through projects, open-source contributions, previous work, or something you can show us.
  • Able to explain your decisions, ask for help when needed, and follow through.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Career Growth: You will be given more responsibility and pushed to grow faster than ever before.
  • Network: Your peers are brilliant, highly motivated people. These people will be foundational in your future opportunities.
  • Real Participation: Employees are shareholders. You will think and act like an owner.
  • Perks & Benefits: Relocation support, visa support, the latest Apple gear (MacBook + AirPods), lunch benefit, gym benefit, a beautiful office in the heart of the city, 4x on-/offsites per year, and an annual development budget.

Additional to the global benefits above, we offer localized benefits such as comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance and a 401(k) retirement plan for our US team.
