Original posting from Nebius

About Nebius:

Nebius is leading a new era in cloud infrastructure for the global AI economy. We are building a full-stack AI cloud platform that supports developers and enterprises from data and model training through to production deployment, without the cost and complexity of building large in-house AI/ML infrastructure.

Built by engineers, for engineers. From large-scale GPU orchestration to inference optimization, we own the hard problems across compute, storage, networking and applied AI.

Listed on Nasdaq (NBIS) and headquartered in Amsterdam, we have a global footprint with R&D hubs across Europe, the UK, North America and Israel. Our team of 1,500+ includes hundreds of engineers with deep expertise across hardware, software and AI R&D.

The role

Nebius is seeking a highly skilled and commercially minded Senior Legal Counsel to establish and lead our legal function across APJ. Based in Singapore, this person will be the primary legal partner for Nebius's rapidly growing business in the region — owning customer-facing commercial contracting, procurement, and data center/construction-related legal matters end to end, while working closely with cross-functional teams such as Sales, Finance, and Operations and legal matter experts.

This role operates as an independent regional legal function from day one, backed by the wider Nebius global legal team, and thus must demonstrate team playing skills and leadership qualities. It suits a self-starter who thrives with a high degree of autonomy, exercises sound judgment without close supervision, and is energized — not unsettled — by a fast-moving, evolving environment where structures, processes, and priorities are still taking shape.

The ideal candidate combines deep commercial contracting experience with excellent legal judgment, drafting, and negotiation skills. Experience in cloud infrastructure, data centers, technology services, or other complex cross-border businesses is particularly valuable.

Your responsibilities will include:

Own the drafting, review, and negotiation of a wide range of customer-facing and commercial agreements, including:

Customer related transactions - such as GPU as a Service (IaaS), PaaS, SaaS, Reseller’s Agreement and Service Level Agreements

Infrastructure related transactions - lease, colocation and other data center (construction) related agreements.

Procurement related transactions with various vendor, and partnership agreements

Act as the primary legal partner for APJ Sales and Go-to-Market teams, providing practical, business-oriented advice throughout customer negotiations.

Lead legal work on procurement, construction, data center development, infrastructure, and real estate matters across the region, working closely with Nebius's global legal specialists and external counsel.

Oversee rent, lease, colocation, land acquisition, zoning, permitting and energy and grid connection, in projects of the company.

Drive complex, cross-border, and strategically important transactions involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Advise internal stakeholders on local legal and regulatory considerations, translating regional requirements into practical guidance for global teams.

Involvement in labor law related matters.

Build and continuously improve regional contract templates, playbooks, legal processes, and guidance materials as the APJ business scales.

Establish a scalable APJ legal function and shape decisions on its future structure and hiring.

Manage and direct external counsel across multiple APJ jurisdictions, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.

Deliver clear, decisive, and commercially balanced legal advice in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment.

We expect you to have:

Qualification as a lawyer and admission to practise in Singapore.

Approximately 8 or more years of relevant post-qualification legal experience.

Prior in-house experience in a technology, cloud, digital infrastructure, or comparable fast-growing international business — ideally preceded by training at a leading Singapore or international law firm. This role requires someone who already knows how to operate inside a company, navigate an evolving corporate structure, and get things done without the infrastructure of a law firm.

Strong experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial and technology agreements, particularly customer-facing contracts, at pace and under pressure.

Exposure to procurement, construction, data center, infrastructure, colocation or real estate matters.

The ability to operate independently as the sole legal contact for a region while collaborating effectively with a global legal team.

Comfort with ambiguity: the judgment to assess each matter on its own merits rather than applying a fixed playbook, and the adaptability to work within a corporate structure that is still evolving.

Experience advising senior commercial stakeholders and balancing legal risk with business objectives, with the confidence to work directly with Sales and business leadership.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail.

The ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously and re-prioritize quickly as business needs evolve, including during intense deal or project phases.

It will be an added bonus if you have:

Experience with employment law matters in Singapore or across APJ

Deeper expertise in construction, data center development, real estate, colocation, infrastructure, energy, or large-scale procurement.

A track record of partnering with business leaders during periods of rapid international expansion.

Previous experience establishing or scaling a new regional legal function from the ground up.
