About the Role

We are looking for commercially-minded Legal Counsel who will be responsible for contract drafting and negotiation, company formation and structuring, governance and company secretarial matters, trademarks and intellectual property.

To assist the Senior Legal Director and team in giving appropriate advice to Management and the rest of the company in order to minimise legal risks for company.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review and negotiate all types of legal agreements and provide advice on the same.
  • Provide ad-hoc legal advice to all internal teams on day-to-day matters.
  • Draft, advise and interpret internal company policies.
  • Assist in solving complex issues from a legal perspective.
  • Conduct research on laws and regulations, as needed, and summarise these.
  • Prepare templates and manage template and other databases for the Legal Department.
  • Keep abreast of all legislation that affects the company.
  • Assist with company formations and general company secretarial duties relating to such entities.
  • Liaise with external counsel on all types of matters to sometimes include contentious cases.
  • Assist the Senior Legal Director with various Legal Department matters, as required.
  • Occasionally act as a substitute to the Senior Legal Director and other team members.
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s policies, rules and procedures related to Health, Safety and Environmental Management.

Requirements:

  • Has professional qualifications in Common Law jurisdiction (e.g. UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa or similar)
  • Has 4-6 years PQE and strong experience within real estate, property development or construction
  • Has strong track record in complex commercial contracting and negotiations
  • Has experience advising on property/construction/real estate businesses
  • Has exposure to multi-jurisdictional regulatory environments
