About the role

Original posting from SpaceX via Greenhouse

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

MANAGER, MATERIALS MANAGEMENT (STARLINK)

SpaceX is developing a low-latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of people around the world. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink provides fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities and places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable. To enable our goal of “Connecting the Unconnected,” we are seeking an experienced Materials Management leader to own end-to-end material flow, inventory accuracy, and logistics operations that directly enable high-volume Starlink production.

In this role you will own a team of supervisors, analysts, and warehouse associates, working closely with department leadership to grow and develop our Materials Management team into a world-class operation. This leader will be responsible for deploying new equipment and processes to improve material flow across our campus, managing inbound & outbound truck and material flow, and ensuring timely and accurate delivery of materials to production and other key groups.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Own 24/7 materials management operations, including shipping & receiving, inventory management, material handling, delivery systems, and production line support across the Bastrop Starlink campus.

Manage inbound and outbound truck traffic, material flow, and logistics to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials to production and supporting teams.

Deploy new equipment, systems, and processes to improve material velocity, reduce waste, and increase operational efficiency.

Drive a strong safety culture by conducting regular safety walkthroughs, performing root-cause analysis on incidents, addressing hazards promptly, and enforcing safety policies and procedures.

Develop and execute materials management strategy, key performance metrics, and goals aligned with Starlink production ramps and campus growth objectives.

Lead cost-reduction initiatives by identifying and implementing internal and external opportunities for optimization and efficiency gains.

Identify, prioritize, and lead process improvement and capital projects that enable the Materials Management team to meet factory goals and scale operations effectively.

Lead, coach, and develop a multi-level organization of supervisors, analysts, and warehouse associates across multiple shifts.

Assess performance, provide regular feedback, facilitate conflict resolution, and address performance issues through coaching, performance improvement plans, or disciplinary action when necessary.

Actively mentor and grow team members by setting clear goals, conducting one-on-ones and performance reviews, and creating development opportunities that motivate high performance.

Approve timecards, schedule workforce to support 24/7 operations, and perform other administrative leadership duties as required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
