About the role

Original posting from Mural Group via Ashby

Overview

Mural Group is partnering with a global Tier 1 automotive supplier to place a Quality Engineer at their Morganfield, Kentucky facility. This is a direct-hire opportunity with a well-established manufacturer that produces vibration control components for major automotive OEMs worldwide. The hiring team is ready to move quickly.

What You Will Be Doing

You will own the technical quality function for this plant - managing APQP activity through the manufacturing process, coordinating and preparing PPAP packages, and maintaining the facility’s IATF 16949 certification. Day to day you will work directly with customers during APQP meetings and process sign-offs, develop and implement 8D corrective actions for internal and customer-initiated quality issues, create and maintain control plans and work instructions, operate and program the CMM for dimensional layouts, and serve as the quality liaison with suppliers on product quality concerns. When the Quality Manager is unavailable, you represent the customer’s needs internally.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a relevant technical field (required)
  • 1 to 3 years of quality engineering experience in automotive or industrial manufacturing
  • Active APQP and PPAP ownership experience - submitting packages, coordinating customer approvals, maintaining logs
  • IATF 16949 or TS-16949 quality system experience including audit participation
  • 8D and structured problem-solving (TOPS / GPS) experience
  • CMM operation experience preferred
  • SPC and GD&T familiarity
  • Direct customer-facing quality experience

Why This Move Makes Sense

  • You own the APQP process and submit PPAP packages directly - not support someone who does
  • You sit across from OEM customers at process sign-offs and audits at 1 to 3 years in, which most QEs do not get until they are much further along
  • CMM programming adds a hands-on metrology credential that follows you to every role after this one
  • 8D and corrective action ownership - with both customers and suppliers - builds the cross-functional reputation that gets quality engineers promoted
  • If your goal is Quality Manager, this role gives you the complete portfolio: systems, customer interface, supplier quality, lab operations, and floor accountability
