METROLOGY SPECIALIST (STARSHIP)

Starship Metrology at Starbase supports production, test, and launch by keeping measuring and test equipment tracked, issued, and in spec. This role does the day-to-day admin work for the lab: tickets, inventory, vendors, shipping, notifications, audits, and reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Handle lab requests for new IMTE( Inspection, Measuring, and Test Equipment ) additions, priority calibrations, on-site scheduling, and equipment issuing

Move equipment through the normal workflow, including status updates, customer check-in support, and vendor calibration processing

Keep customer inventory current and audit production-line equipment; flag equipment that is not operating or measuring correctly

Coordinate vendor POs, quotes, and invoices for repair and calibration

Send weekly overdue-asset notices to production teams

Coordinate shipping for SpaceX Metrology labs and vendor labs

Collect data on outsourced calibrations and in-sourcing ROI

Keep inventory, status, and ownership records current; help with calibration coordination, reporting, and audits

Reply to customers promptly and help walk-ins; act as the admin contact for users, production teams, and vendors

Help with documentation and process changes; work assigned priorities and update others on progress and blockers

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalency certificate

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

1+ years of general admin or coordination experience

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook)

Jira and/or Indysoft software systems

Calibration or inventory systems, vendor POs, shipping, or inventory control

Completing basic calibrations on gas meters and common hand tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures, torque wrenches, crane scales, and similar)

Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025, AS9100D, and ISO 9001

Organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle several tasks and deadlines at once

Experience writing reports, notices, and process docs

Clear writing and speaking

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted and to stand for extended periods

Flight hardware typically is built at height or in tight quarters, and physical dexterity is required

Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings, and climbing hand over hand

Must be able to work all shift hours, overtime, and weekends as needed

Must be able to travel for short trips as needed
