Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Strategic Payments Partnerships team develops and manages relationships with large payment method and ecosystem partners that enable Stripe’s product strategy and deliver new capabilities to Stripe users. Our team executes on high-impact, cross-functional initiatives across new products, geographic expansion, user advocacy, and policy. These partnerships have a significant impact on Stripe and the products used by millions of our users.

What you’ll do

We are looking for a Partner Development Manager to own and grow priority payment-method partnerships, with a focus on strategic wallets, buy now, pay later (BNPL) providers, and related payment partners. You will manage day-to-day partner relationships, lead defined commercial and product initiatives, and work across Stripe to increase payment-method adoption and deliver better experiences for users.

This role requires sound commercial judgment, a structured approach to execution, and the ability to bring together internal and external stakeholders with different priorities. You will develop deep expertise in your partners and the payment-method ecosystem, using that context to identify opportunities, inform Stripe’s decisions, and execute initiatives that support Stripe’s product and business goals.

Responsibilities

Manage one or more priority payment-method partnerships, driving the execution of joint initiatives and launching new offerings that benefit Stripe users

Manage internal and external stakeholders with varying priorities, driving alignment on shared goals and ensuring structured partner and deal management rooted in clear milestones, performance metrics, and opportunities of mutual interest

Develop and grow Stripe’s relationships with partners, including their senior executives and leadership

Gather input from and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders, including Risk, Legal, Product, and Engineering, to execute deals and related partner product initiatives

Bring an operationally focused mindset to relationship management, setting clear goals, running tight processes, and proactively identifying opportunities to improve execution

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

8+ years of experience in strategic partnerships or business development, including 3+ years working in payments, fintech, or financial institutions, and 3+ years of experience negotiating commercial deals with financial and technology institutions

Experience leading commercial discussions or negotiations using established deal strategies and frameworks, with sound judgment about trade-offs and when to escalate

Experience owning partner relationships, channel or distribution initiatives, and/or cross-functional commercial programs from planning through execution, and working in a product-centric environment with meaningful internal and external dependencies

Ability to take initiative, handle ambiguity in a fast-moving organization, and thrive with a high level of autonomy and responsibility; strong verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders across a wide variety of functions

Technical acumen, including the ability to understand Stripe’s product portfolio and strategy and use this understanding to define requirements with partners and evaluate new partnership opportunities, along with interest in and intellectual curiosity about payments, economic infrastructure, and Stripe’s partners

Preferred qualifications

Experience in payments, payment methods, wallets, BNPL, or financial services
