About Engine

At Engine, we’re transforming business travel into something personalized, rewarding, and simple. For too long, managing travel and spend has been overwhelming and fragmented — we’re here to change that. We believe the future of travel should be seamless and powered by technology that delights customers at every step. That’s why we’re building a platform that brings together corporate travel, a powerful charge card, and modern spend management in one place.

To make this vision real, we’re looking for exceptional, mission-driven people to help redefine how businesses manage and experience travel.

More than 30,000 companies already rely on Engine to support over 1 million travelers and billions in annual bookings each year. Cash flow positive with rapid growth, we pair exclusive Engine-only rates, industry-leading rewards, and intelligent automation to help businesses save money while delivering world-class personalization and convenience.

Backed by Telescope Partners, Blackstone, and Permira, Engine has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing travel and fintech platforms in North America, with honors including the Deloitte Fast 500 and Built In’s Best Places to Work.

As a People Business Partner at Engine, you own the People partnership for a defined client group — from individual contributors up through Sr Managers — within one of our fastest-moving parts of the business. You coach and advise managers, run the core people cycles, handle employee relations with objectivity, fairness, empathy and manage the tactical work that keeps the org healthy. You work alongside a Sr People Business Partner who owns the most senior and strategic layer, so you can own everything below that line and escalate cleanly when work crosses it.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for someone who is organized, credible with managers, and steady in a high-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. Within your first few months, you'll become the managers' trusted go-to for people questions and take full ownership of the tactical engine and people cycles for your client group.

What You'll Do:

Partner with and coach people managers up to Sr Manager on team health, performance, development, and day-to-day people decisions — earning credibility and influencing sound outcomes.

Bring business context to your partnership: understand your client group's operational and financial goals, and align People programs and processes to them.

Run the core people cycles end to end — performance reviews, calibration prep, comp cycle, and org-health insights — coaching managers through each.

Own employee relations from IC through Sr Manager: handle grievances and conflict with empathy and fairness, navigate difficult topics, and escalate complex or senior-level matters to PBP leadership.

Consult with managers on team-level structure and effectiveness, and partner with the Sr PBP on larger org changes.

Interpret org-health data to find root causes, anticipate risks, and give managers clear, actionable insight.

Execute org and change initiatives independently as needed, and in partnership with PBP Leaders, using data and context to keep transitions moving.

Translate policy and compliance into everyday practice, escalating higher-risk matters appropriately.

Manage the tactical workload end to end — HiBob workforce planning and reqs, headcount reconciliation, JD and Greenhouse support, on/offboarding, transitions, and termination prep — and provide backup coverage for a paired team so no group goes dark.

Communicate clearly and build trust across teams, coaching managers on how to communicate through change.

What You'll Bring to Engine:

~4–6 years in HRBP / People Partner roles with direct client-group support and hands-on manager coaching — including at least 2 years supporting either a Product Development org (Engineering, Data, Product) or a GTM / Revenue org (Sales, Finance, Business Development) in a high-growth environment.

Practical employee-relations experience through mid-management, with sound judgment on when to act and when to escalate.

Strong organization and process discipline — comfortable owning cyclical people processes end to end.

Business acumen to connect People work to what the business is trying to achieve.

Demonstrated ability to build strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders to influence outcomes.

Fluency with HRIS, ATS, and analytics tools (e.g., HiBob, Greenhouse, Looker, or similar).

Comfortable in a rapidly changing environment, able to manage multiple priorities and pivot as needed.

Applications for this role will be accepted through 12/8/26 or until the role is filled. We encourage you to apply early, as we may begin reviewing applications before the deadline.
