This role bridges security engineering and day to day operations by supporting implementation of security capabilities, evaluating technical solutions, maintaining cybersecurity tools, and helping operational teams translate security architecture into effective, repeatable practices. The Cybersecurity Engineer works closely with vulnerability management, incident response, RMF, and ISSO teams to ensure engineering activities directly support operational risk reduction and continuous improvement.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design reusable automation and orchestration patterns supporting assessment, reporting, evidence collection, testing, and implementation workflows.
  • Develop scripts, APIs, and integrations that connect approved enterprise tools and improve data movement between technical workstreams.
  • Automate recurring evidence collection and exception-based analysis where authoritative data sources permit.
  • Support reusable implementation tooling and standardized deployment or validation workflows.
  • Document automation architecture, dependencies, interfaces, security considerations, and operational handoff requirements.
  • Measure automation effectiveness and recommend refinements based on implementation lessons learned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of automation, integration, DevSecOps, or security engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with Python, PowerShell, APIs, workflow orchestration, or comparable automation technologies.
  • Experience integrating security, analytics, ticketing, and infrastructure platforms.
  • Understanding of Zero Trust, Federal cybersecurity controls, and secure automation practices.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, SOAR, or enterprise workflow platforms.
  • Experience automating cybersecurity evidence and reporting.
  • Experience supporting large-scale Federal environments.

Preferred Certifications:

One or more of the following is preferred:

  • Security+
  • CISSP
