Position Summary

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for managing vendor relationships, overseeing the procurement of supplies, materials, and equipment, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods required to support multiple Distribution Services campuses. This role serves as the primary liaison between ITS, vendors, and internal stakeholders, fostering strong supplier partnerships while driving cost-effective purchasing decisions and maintaining service continuity.

The Procurement Specialist will initiate, place, and track purchase orders again, monitor supplier performance, resolve procurement issues, negotiate with vendors when appropriate, and collaborate closely with Operations to minimize disruptions to warehouse activities. The successful candidate will also develop and maintain standardized purchasing practices and vendor management processes to ensure consistency and operational excellence across campuses.

Principle Accountabilities

Create, place, and track purchase orders for a variety of supplies, materials, and equipment supporting multiple clients across a single ITS Distribution Services warehouse campus

Monitor vendor performance, including delivery reliability, product quality, responsiveness, and service levels, escalating concerns and implementing corrective actions as needed.

Source new vendors and evaluate supplier capabilities, pricing, quality, and service to support business needs

Assist in negotiating pricing, delivery schedules, service agreements, and other commercial terms to maximize value while maintaining quality and service expectations.

Communicate regularly with Operations and Administrative teams, handling purchase requests and assisting with questions related to past purchases

Interface with clients, as required, to place potential purchases at their request

Assist in creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to purchasing and vendor management

Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Requirements for this position include, but are not limited to:

Two + years of procurement experience, preferably in a distribution center setting

Excellent organizational skills and problem resolution skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Solid understanding of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Positive, team-first attitude and strong work ethic

Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize needs for multiple business groups simultaneously

Physical Demands

Constantly operates a computer, phone, and other office productivity machinery.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods.

Close visual acuity is required for data analysis, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.

Required to walk, stand, bend, or reach.

Will be exposed to typical warehouse environments (varying temperatures, moderate noise) when inspecting inventory or meeting with logistics personnel.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Starting Rate:  $24.00 per hour
