This role sits in the Controllers organisation, part of the Group Internal Finance team at Trustly, which also includes Tax, Treasury, Payroll, Finance Operations and Finance Systems. The team is dynamic and cross jurisdictional, with an ethos of collaboration and continuous improvement at its heart.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join the Controllers organisation and own general ledger accounting and financial reporting for one or more Trustly entities in the Americas region. This is a hands on GL and financial reporting role: the successful candidate will be a strong technical accountant with deep US GAAP expertise, comfortable owning the close process end to end and partnering with auditors, tax and cross functional finance teams.

Key responsibilities:

  • Month End and Year End Close: Own the accurate and timely month end and year end close for assigned entities, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • General Ledger Accounting: Maintain the general ledger, ensuring transactions are properly recorded, classified and supported in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and/or review financial statements and management reporting packages, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP (and IFRS at Group level where applicable).
  • Audit Management: Act as a day to day point of contact for external auditors, preparing audit schedules, responding to requests and helping ensure a smooth and efficient audit process.
  • Compliance & Controls: Ensure compliance with US GAAP, internal accounting policies and relevant financial controls, and support SOX or other regulatory requirements as applicable.
  • Account Reconciliations: Perform balance sheet reconciliations and analytical reviews, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, close efficiency and internal controls.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Partner with Tax, Treasury, FP&A and other finance and business teams on accounting matters, technical questions and cross functional projects.

Key requirements:

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience in an industry setting, ideally within fintech, payments or financial services
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, with hands on experience owning the month end and year end close in a corporate finance team
  • Experience with IFRS is a plus given Trustly’s global reporting requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, with CPA or equivalent professional qualification preferred
  • Experience supporting external audits from the company side, including preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests
  • Proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite experience preferred) and strong Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a busy, international environment

Shape Your Role and Make an Impact: Join a dynamic environment where you can take ownership, drive change and continuously embrace new challenges. We’re looking for dedicated and highly motivated individuals who thrive in a busy environment and enjoy collaborating across different areas of the organisation.

Only the requirements section changed in substance. I also removed hyphens and commas before “and” throughout to match your style preferences.
