About the role

Original posting from Oura via Greenhouse

Our mission at Oura is to empower every person to own their inner potential. Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. We've helped millions of people understand and improve their health by providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles.

Empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.

Oura’s engineering organization consists of talented developers distributed across the EU and US. For day-to-day feature work, our engineers are organized into smaller cross-functional, geolocation-specific feature squads or teams. Our squads have a great deal of autonomy and are responsible for the development and architecture of their features. Squads take full ownership of their code and handle everything from concepting, design and implementation to release, maintenance and bug fixes.

Your team, The Health Intelligence Team operates within the HealthOS Mission to enable other teams to efficiently deliver personalized solutions that help members build sustainable, empowered relationships with their health. We’re at the forefront of integrating Generative AI and LLMs into the Oura experience, transforming how members interact with and learn from their data. In addition to shipping delightful end-to-end Android features, we build platform foundations: modular, reusable components, shared libraries, and clear APIs/contracts that let other teams plug into HealthOS capabilities quickly and safely. You’ll collaborate closely with product, design, backend, data science, and research while shaping an Android architecture that is scalable, testable, and easy to evolve.

This is an on-site (Helsinki, Oulu) or remote Finland-based role.

This is a senior position.

What you will do:

Work together with a passionate team of engineers, designers, UX and product managers creating stellar member-facing experiences around AI, that deliver health insights and guidance.

Own an AI-powered, member-facing feature end-to-end, from early prototyping through production and iteration, including the client-side integration points with backend AI services.

Develop new features and capabilities using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, ensuring responsiveness, scalability, and alignment with design guidelines.

Refactor existing features to improve code quality, performance, and maintainability.

Ensure high quality through code reviews, automatic testing, and Android engineering best practices.

Build and evolve shared design-system components and platform foundations reused by other squads.

Contribute to build tooling, CI performance and engineering practices that raise velocity across the Android codebase.

Proven experience building complex user-facing features and reusable UI components.

Experience with collaborative development on complex shared codebases.

Proficiency with Git, branching strategies, pull requests, and standard code review workflows.

Focus on quality with unit, instrumentation, and snapshot/Compose testing; familiarity with CI for mobile.

Ability to design and implement performant, reusable, maintainable, and testable code.
