Why This Role Exists
Strong commercial lending decisions require more than accurate financial analysis. They require sound judgment, a clear understanding of risk, and the ability to turn complex information into practical credit recommendations.
The Senior Commercial Credit Analyst helps Metro make thoughtful, well-supported lending decisions across commercial and industrial, construction, and commercial real estate relationships. This role evaluates complex new loan requests, monitors the strength of existing relationships, and helps identify risks before they become larger concerns.
This is an opportunity to influence meaningful credit decisions, partner closely with lenders and leadership, and strengthen the consistency and quality of Metro's commercial underwriting process.
What You'll Own
- In-depth credit analysis and underwriting for complex commercial loan requests
- Objective assessment of borrower strength, repayment capacity, collateral, industry conditions, and overall credit risk
- Clear, timely loan presentations and credit recommendations
- Annual reviews, renewals, modifications, and risk-rating assessments for existing relationships
- Identification of emerging risks and appropriate structural or mitigating recommendations
- Guidance and technical support for developing credit analysts
What You'll Do
- Independently analyze complex commercial credit requests across C&I, construction, and commercial real estate portfolios.
- Review business and personal financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, collateral, management experience, industry conditions, and historical operating performance.
- Identify additional information needed from borrowers, members, lenders, or CPAs to complete a thorough global credit analysis.
- Partner with lenders to prepare comprehensive loan presentations that clearly explain the opportunity, key risks, proposed structure, and recommendation.
- Complete annual reviews, renewal requests, loan modifications, and risk-rating changes for existing commercial relationships.
- Evaluate appraisal and environmental reports for completeness, accuracy, and potential areas requiring further due diligence.
- Participate in borrower and prospect meetings with Relationship Managers to better understand business operations, strategy, and management capability.
- Contribute to portfolio reviews, special projects, and continuous improvement across the Commercial Services team.
- Mentor junior analysts and help strengthen the consistency, quality, and judgment reflected in the team's work.
Success Looks Like in 12 to 18 Months
- Complex credit requests are analyzed thoroughly and presented with clear, well-supported recommendations.
- Loan presentations help lenders and decision-makers quickly understand repayment capacity, structure, material risks, and mitigating factors.
- Annual reviews, renewals, modifications, and risk-rating assessments are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Emerging credit, collateral, environmental, or portfolio concerns are identified early and escalated appropriately.
- Lending partners view you as a credible, responsive, and solutions-oriented credit partner.
- Junior analysts benefit from practical guidance that improves the quality and consistency of their work.

- You enjoy helping others strengthen their analytical skills and credit judgment.
- You want your work to have a visible impact on lending decisions and portfolio performance.
