About the role

Original posting from TerraPower LLC. via Greenhouse

The TerraPower Isotopes® (TPI™) division has been established to pursue medical isotopes development--advancing nuclear science for significant human health benefits. We seek to support revolutionary radiotherapies for treatments of various cancers through the supply of radioisotopes. TerraPower currently has unique access to a supply of thorium for the long-term production of actinium-225 in the growing alpha therapy market and intends to expand into other nuclear related medical treatments.

The TerraPower Isotopes program is an integral part of the Washington State based TerraPower team, a company working to raise living standards globally. In 2006, the company originated with Bill Gates and a group of like-minded visionaries who evaluated the fundamental challenges to raising living standards around the world. TerraPower’s mission is to be a world leader in new nuclear technologies, while developing innovators and future leaders in the nuclear field.

TPI is seeking to hire highly motivated and forward-thinking professionals who are interested in focusing on advanced radiopharmaceutical applications and influencing change within nuclear medicine. TerraPower is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We do not discriminate in hiring on the basis of sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, color, religious creed, national origin, physical or mental disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.

Senior Director, Corporate Development

The Senior Director of Corporate Development, reporting to the Vice President of Commercial and Strategy, owns the long-horizon growth architecture of TerraPower Isotopes across mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, alternative revenue structures, and capital planning. The role sits apart from day-to-day sales and account management, and exists to determine which organizations TPI should be working with, on what terms, and how the business is financed to reach the resulting position. The successful candidate will bring transaction experience within the radiopharmaceutical or nuclear medicine industry, the financial depth to value and structure deals independently, and comfort operating as a senior individual contributor in a company scaling rapidly through a capital intensive build.

Responsibilities

Mergers, Acquisitions, and Partnerships

Originate, screen, and prioritize acquisition, merger, joint venture, and partnership opportunities against TPI’s strategic position and capital constraints

Build and defend valuation models, including discounted cash flow, comparable company and transaction analysis, and scenario work, to a standard that withstands external advisor and Board scrutiny

Lead financial and commercial diligence, integrating technical, legal, quality, and regulatory workstreams into a single view of value and risk

Structure deal transaction terms, governance, and support negotiation through to signing

Prepare Board-level transaction materials presenting risks, rewards, and alternatives across scenarios without slant toward a preferred outcome

Develop post-close integration plans, including synergy definition, sequencing, and tracking against the deal case

Long-Term Revenue Architecture

Design and evaluate alternatives to unit-priced supply

Model the trade-off between near-term realized price and long-term participation in customer product value

Assess counterparty creditworthiness, clinical probability of success, and dilution exposure where non-cash consideration is contemplated

Capital Planning and Financing

Develop and maintain the long-range financial plan linking production capacity expansion, revenue ramp, and capital requirements

Evaluate equity, debt, project finance, government, and strategic-partner funding alternatives against cost of capital, dilution, covenants, and control

Prepare fundraising materials, including financial models, data room content, and investor and lender diligence responses

Support negotiation of financing terms and maintain working relationships with banking, lending, and advisory counterparties

Market and Pipeline Intelligence

Maintain a current view of the alpha therapy and broader radiopharmaceutical landscape, covering clinical pipelines, isotope supply capacity, competitor economics, and transaction comparables

Identify the developers, contract manufacturers, and suppliers TPI should be building relationships with, and articulate the strategic rationale for each

Track public and private market valuations relevant to TPI

Deliver concise analytical briefs to the Vice President of Commercial and Strategy and the TPI Leadership Team on developments that change the strategic picture

Regulatory and Compliance

Ensure corporate development activity complies with export control requirements, antitrust and competition law, and confidentiality obligations governing transaction processes

Coordinate with legal counsel on transaction documentation, disclosure obligations, and regulatory approval pathways

Key Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor's degree in finance, business, engineering, life sciences, or related field; MBA, CFA, or advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, or strategic finance, including a substantial portion within the radiopharmaceutical, nuclear medicine, pharmaceutical, or medical device industry.

Demonstrated ownership of completed transactions from origination through close, spanning valuation, diligence, structuring, and negotiation.

Deep working knowledge of the radiopharmaceutical value chain, including isotope production economics, clinical development timelines, and the reimbursement environment for radiotherapeutics.

Advanced financial modeling capability, with the ability to build, audit, and defend valuation and long-range planning models without analytical support.

Experience evaluating and structuring non-cash consideration such as equity or royalty interests.

Experience presenting to and defending recommendations before boards of directors, investment committees, or comparable governing bodies.

Ability to operate as a senior individual contributor today and to build and lead a team as the business scales.

Excellent written communication, with the ability to reduce complex financial and strategic analysis into concise, decision-ready material.

A passion for mission-driven innovation in the nuclear medicine and radiopharmaceutical space.

The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly, and display respect with a desire to foster teamwork.
