Why this role is on the menu

The Senior Financial Insights Analyst sits at the center of Instacart's Finance organization, with a mandate to identify and close areas of P&L leakage through rigorous financial and transactional data analysis and compelling narratives that drive action.

The team works through invoice challenges with retailers and serves as experts in the broader Instacart financial ecosystem. Invoicing retailers correctly is a key operational responsibility that impacts financial success and builds trust with retailer partners.

This is a highly visible, high-impact role for someone who is relentlessly optimistic, eager to learn, and excited about combining deep financial expertise with AI and automation tools. We are looking for a great team member who helps carry the culture and gets things done in a no-ego way.

What you'll cook up in your first year

P&L leakage is identified and closed through rigorous analysis of Instacart's financial and transactional data.

AI and automation tools are used to build and maintain alerting capabilities that surface issues in real time.

An expert-level understanding of Instacart's marketplace data, reporting capabilities, and invoicing processes is developed and applied. Invoice challenges are diagnosed, retailer partnerships are leveraged to resolve them, and financial outcomes improve as a result.

Complex datasets from multiple systems are connected and analyzed using advanced SQL, Excel or Google Sheets, and Python. Findings are synthesized into clear, visually compelling narratives and presented to internal and external stakeholders via Google Slides or PowerPoint.

Strong stakeholder relationships are maintained internally and externally. Time is continuously prioritized toward the highest-impact problems, with ambiguous challenges deconstructed into efficient, high-quality approaches to resolution.
