ABOUT THE ROLE

Join an early-stage fintech software company as a founding engineer, building the backend systems that power financial integrations, data workflows, and ledger foundations. You will work closely with company leaders and early customers to shape product direction and establish strong engineering practices.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design, build, and operate backend services and public APIs for customers and partners.
  • Develop integrations with financial systems and process data from APIs, documents, and files.
  • Build ETL pipelines with data quality checks and reconciliation logic.
  • Set up logging, metrics, alerts, and incident response practices.
  • Collaborate with customers to prototype solutions, measure impact, and prioritize what to build.
  • Apply LLMs to production workflows when they provide measurable value, with appropriate safeguards.
  • Document architectural decisions, testing practices, and security standards.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • At least 5 years of backend engineering experience delivering production systems end to end.
  • Strong experience with OLTP systems, relational data modeling, REST APIs, and consistency and availability trade-offs.
  • Experience integrating complex external APIs, including authentication, rate limits, retries, and webhooks.
  • Ability to extract, validate, and normalize data from sources such as PDFs, XML, and emails.
  • Practical cloud and DevOps experience with AWS or GCP, Docker, CI/CD, and monitoring.
  • Experience with ETL, observability, and production operations; familiarity with financial data, ledgers, and reconciliation is valuable.
  • Exposure to event-driven systems, workflow engines, or guarded production LLM deployments is a plus.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity, changing priorities, and early-stage product decisions.
