About Unity Advisory

Unity Advisory is a modern advisory business built for today's CFO, with connected solutions across finance, deals and tax. Focussed on client outcomes, seasoned experts lead every engagement, in an operating model powered by AI and free from audit conflict.

The Role

We're building out our capital allowances offering and are looking for a Senior Manager to help lead its delivery and growth. You'll take ownership of a portfolio of clients across sectors, leading complex engagements from individual property acquisitions through to major construction programmes and multi-site capital expenditure reviews.

Working closely with our capital allowances lead, you'll advise senior finance teams, oversee technical quality and commercial performance, develop colleagues and win new work. You'll also work with our Tax, Deals and Office of the CFO teams to identify opportunities across Unity.

You'll help shape how the practice operates, including how we use technology and AI to improve claim preparation, data analysis and client reporting. Your technical judgement and client relationships will remain central to the work.

Responsibilities

Lead capital allowances engagements from scoping and proposals through to delivery, taking responsibility for budgets, resources, deadlines and profitability.

Build and manage senior client relationships, providing practical advice on capital expenditure and the cash tax benefits of available reliefs.

Oversee the preparation and review of capital allowances claims and technical reports, resolving complex issues and maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

Advise on plant and machinery allowances, structures and buildings allowances, land remediation relief and the tax treatment of fixed assets.

Support property acquisitions, disposals and wider transactions, including due diligence, expenditure apportionments and capital allowances elections.

Analyse fixed asset registers, construction cost information and supporting documentation, working with clients, surveyors and other advisers to identify qualifying expenditure.

Lead HMRC correspondence and enquiries, supporting technical positions and negotiating on behalf of clients where required.

Develop new business through proposals, pitches, external relationships and opportunities within existing client accounts, working alongside colleagues across Unity.

Coach and develop team members, oversee their work and contribute to recruitment as the practice grows.

Improve delivery methods through automation, analytics and AI, maintaining appropriate technical review and handling client data responsibly.

Qualifications and Experience

Significant experience in UK capital allowances or fixed asset tax advisory, with a track record of leading complex engagements and managing a client portfolio.

Strong technical knowledge of UK capital allowances legislation, with experience advising on property transactions and major capital expenditure projects.

CTA, ACA, ACCA, RICS or an equivalent relevant qualification.

Experience interpreting financial data, construction costs and technical documentation to support robust claims.

Commercial judgement, including managing engagement profitability and contributing to winning new work.

Experience managing and developing colleagues, with confidence reviewing work and resolving technical issues.

Clear communication skills and credibility with CFOs, finance directors and other senior stakeholders.

Confidence using digital tools and a practical interest in applying AI and automation to advisory work.

An adaptable, collaborative approach and an appetite to help build a growing practice.
