About the role

Original posting from Crusoe via Ashby

Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.

We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.

About the Role:

As a Senior Manager on the Strategic Initiatives team, you'll work directly with the President/CSO and other leaders to help Crusoe make big decisions quickly, then make them happen. Our executives face questions like: What’s the right ownership structure for any given asset? How much of our data center supply chain should we build ourselves? How should we enter a new country? You'll take these questions, gather the facts and the right people, write a clear recommendation, and push for a decision. When the answer is "go," you'll often lead the work yourself until it has a permanent owner. The job is a blend of high-level strategic thinking, analysis, and writing, cultivating relationships with internal and external partners, and running mission critical projects. We’re looking for the rare candidate that’s as comfortable on a job site or factory floor as they are in the boardroom. Crusoe Spark, our modular data center business, started as a program on this team.

What You'll Be Working On:

  • Recommendations to executives: Define each decision up front: who makes it, what the options are, and what has to be true for each option to work. Work with stakeholders across product, engineering, and finance to write short memos that cover the background, financial analysis, options, tradeoffs, and your recommendation, backed by a model with unit economics, scenarios, and capacity plans.
  • Launching new programs: turn approved recommendations into programs with goals, milestones, a budget, an executive sponsor, and a working team. Run pilots that test the riskiest assumptions, and at each checkpoint recommend whether to scale up, change course, or stop. Coordinate engineering, finance, legal, real estate, and outside partners until the program is ready to hand to a business unit leader, along with a written plan, metrics, and a list of open risks.
  • Special projects for the President's office: Lead projects that no single team owns or that cross business units, Support the President on leadership meetings, board and investor materials, international expansion, and deal evaluations, and screen incoming requests to the office. Pitch in wherever needed

What You'll Bring to the Team:

  • 7–10 years in management consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking, private equity, or a strategy or chief of staff role at a fast-growing infrastructure, energy, or technology company. That should include meaningful time at an operating company, not only in advisory work.
  • Strong writing for senior leaders, such as investment memos, board materials, or strategy recommendations backed by numbers. We'll ask for a writing sample and give you a case exercise.
  • Experience taking a program from approved idea to day-to-day operation, including changing course along the way and handing it off to a permanent owner.
  • The ability to build financial models from scratch, including scenarios. You're comfortable with capital-heavy businesses: megawatts, cost per kilowatt, capex, and lead times.
  • Experience in at least one of these areas: data centers, power and energy, AI compute and cloud, or manufacturing.
  • Daily use of AI tools like Claude or Gemini for research, analysis, and writing, along with the judgment to check what they give you.

Behavioral Traits:

  • Clear writer: You can explain a complex problem in one page.
  • Ownership mentality: When a project is yours, you own all of it: the analysis, the people, the recommendation, and the result.
  • Organizational fluency: Busy teams make time for you because you make their work easier, not harder.
  • Range: in a single week, you might visit a factory floor, review a contract, and build board slides.
  • Intellectual curiosity: You want to know how a substation works and how a delay in cooling equipment changes a revenue forecast.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience preparing board or investor materials at a late-stage private company.
  • Experience launching a new product, business line, or venture, either inside a larger company or at a startup.
  • Experience with international market entry or cross-border deals, especially in Latin America or Europe. Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
  • Experience scaling manufacturing or with lean operations.
  • An MBA or a quantitative graduate degree.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation and equity packages
  • Restricted Stock Units
  • Paid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs
  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance
  • Employer contributions to HSA account
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
  • Professional development & tuition reimbursement
  • Mental health & wellness support
  • Commuter benefits (parking & transit)
  • Cell phone stipend
  • 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary
  • Volunteer time off
  • Global travel insurance & emergency assistance
  • Daily meals allowance
  • Additional perks & programs specific to location

Compensation Range

Compensation will be paid in the range of up to $175,000 - 215,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant's knowledge, education, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
