About the role

Original posting from Heat Geek via Greenhouse

Type: Full-time

Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager

Region: Either North (covering Scotland down to Birmingham) or South (covering the south of England and Wales up to Birmingham)

What We Do

At Heat Geek, we are tackling one of the UK’s biggest carbon contributors: home heating. Nearly 20% of all UK carbon emissions stems from home heating – and that contribution is even bigger on a global scale. At Heat Geek, we are changing that. By simplifying a traditionally complex industry and revolutionising the technology used by installers, we’re making low-carbon heating mainstream. We have already prevented 2,500,000+ kg of carbon from entering our atmosphere, and we won’t stop there!

Join Us!

People are at the core of who we are and what we do. From decreasing homeowners’ energy bills to help with the cost of living, to empowering talented heating engineers to perform outstanding installations, to ensuring a greener world for all of us, we believe in the power of what we can all do together. – And we need passionate, talented, hard working people to be a part of this journey.

Your Mission

This role is the technical eyes and hands of quality assurance out in the field. You will carry out virtual and on-site QA checks across the installer network, verifying that installations meet Heat Geek's standards, MCS requirements, and Building Regulations. Where a job falls short, you'll be the one who puts it right – diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, alterations, and recommissions, and making sure the customer is left with a system that performs as it should.

You will report into the Quality Assurance Manager, working as part of a growing regional QA function that keeps installation quality consistent as Heat Geek scales nationally. This role covers either the North region (Scotland down to Birmingham) or the South region (the south of England and Wales up to Birmingham). You'll be issued a Heat Geek van and will split your week between remote/virtual QA reviews, training sessions and site visits across your region.

Role Outputs

Quality Assurance Checks

Carry out virtual QA checks on completed installations, reviewing commissioning data, photographic evidence, and system configuration against Heat Geek and MCS standards

Carry out on-site QA checks and audits across your region, assessing installation and commissioning quality first-hand

Identify non-compliance, workmanship issues, or performance risks and record findings clearly and consistently

Feed findings back into the wider QA and risk classification system so recurring issues can be tracked at installer and network level

Repairs, Alterations & Recommissioning

Attend site to carry out repairs, alterations, or full recommissions where a QA check identifies a fault or non-compliance

Diagnose technical issues methodically, distinguishing installation error, design error, and product fault

Ensure any remedial work carried out is fully compliant, documented, and leaves the system performing to Heat Geek standard

Liaise with the customer, the original installer, and internal teams to close out the issue with minimal disruption

Compliance & Standards

Apply up-to-date knowledge of Building Regulations and MCS compliance requirements during every check

Flag emerging regulatory or scheme changes relevant to installation quality back to the National QA & Compliance Lead

Support the wider network with practical, technically credible guidance on standards and best practice

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

Maintain clear, auditable records of every QA check, repair, and recommission carried out

Contribute to quality scorecards and reporting used to track installer performance across the network

Help identify recurring installation or commissioning failure patterns within your region and feed these into corrective action

Help to deliver training sessions to the installer network based on findings in the field

Candidate Requirements

Strong technical background and experience specifically within heat pumps

Strong understanding of current Building Regulations and MCS compliance regulations

In-date G3, Gas Safe, Heat Pump Level 3 qualification, and Water Regulations

Comfortable diagnosing and resolving technical faults on site, independently and under time pressure

Full, clean UK driving licence (a company van is provided for this role)

Confident reviewing commissioning data and technical evidence during virtual QA checks

Strong communication skills, able to give direct, technically credible feedback to installers

Good customer service skills, as you may be sent to attend complaint jobs

Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail

Comfortable working independently across a region, balancing a mixed schedule of remote and site-based work

It’s a bonus if you have…

Heat Geek Mastery certification

Heat Geek Installergy course certificate

Experience in a quality assurance, technical audit, or compliance role

Experience training or mentoring other engineers or installers

We believe great teams are built from different ways of thinking, learning, and living, and as such, we strive to build an organisation where people can show up as themselves. – Even if you don’t tick every box listed above, but are passionate about the work that we are doing and believe that you can make a positive impact here, we’d love to hear from you. So please drop us a message or share more detail in your application!

Ways of Working + Benefits

This is a field-based regional role. You'll be provided with a Heat Geek van and will split your time between virtual QA checks and travelling to sites across your region for on-site checks, repairs, and recommissions. Some of our measurable benefits include:

£5,000 contribution towards your own heat pump installation

Shares in the company, allocated under a tax-incentivised scheme
