Qumulo's cloud data platform manages exabytes of the world's most demanding data, unifying files, objects, and every workload across edge, core, and cloud.

About the role:

This is a senior technical resource for customer engagements across multiple industries and use-cases at Qumulo. You'll partner with Sales and customers across the full sales cycle, from discovery through proof-of-concept, designing file storage and data management architectures for a range of workloads and environments.

The work is hands-on with infrastructure teams, storage administrators, architects, and application owners. You'll translate business and technical requirements into solutions that perform at scale across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud, covering file services, backup and archive, analytics, AI/ML, and cloud-adjacent workloads.

This role will be supporting our Southeast Region with a preference for candidates located within TN, GA, or FL.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the technical relationship on customer opportunities, from discovery and demos through POCs and architecture sign-off
  • Partner with account teams to qualify deals and shape technical strategies for unstructured data, performance, scale, and hybrid cloud needs
  • Design and validate solutions for workloads like file services, backup and archive, analytics, AI/ML, and cloud-adjacent applications
  • Design architectures that address multi-site collaboration, cloud integration, DR, and long-term data lifecycle
  • Build credibility with infrastructure teams, storage administrators, architects, and application owners
  • Build and maintain the technical toolkit: reference architectures, demo content, solution briefs, and competitive positioning

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years in a customer-facing technical role (Systems Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Pre-Sales Engineer) at a software, storage, or technology company
  • Track record leading complex pre-sales engagements end to end, with results you can point to
  • Strong grounding in enterprise storage, file systems, and unstructured data management across on-prem and cloud, including NFS, SMB, and object
  • Experience supporting or selling hybrid cloud solutions, cloud integration patterns, or multi-cloud data management
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into practical solution designs
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills across technical and executive audiences

Candidates with the following additional experience will be highly regarded:

  • Experience supporting customers across multiple industries and workload types
  • Background with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including migration, tiering, and data protection, and/or experience with the broader storage landscape such as S3, Azure Files, Isilon, PowerScale, NetApp, Pure, VAST, Weka, Scality, or similar.
  • Familiarity with containers, Kubernetes, or DevOps workflows
  • Understanding of data protection, ransomware recovery, compliance, and business continuity
  • Experience with capacity planning, performance optimization, and TCO analysis

The annual pay range for the role is USD $235,000 - $265,000 OTE plus equity. Individual pay depends on various factors, such as role level, relevant experience and skills.
