THE ROLE

We're looking for a skilled Software Engineer to join the Farfetch ID team. Reporting to the Engineering Lead, you'll play a key role in supporting and improving our Identity platform (Authentication, Authorization, and Account domains), also impacting the User journey and being conscious of our PII/GDPR requirements. As a Software Engineer, your responsibilities will include assisting in the design and development of new features/solutions across our services and platform; you'll also support the maintenance and evolution of existing components. Additionally, as part of the role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and continuous improvement of our authorization/authentication flows through proactive problem-solving.

You will transform business requirements into efficient and scalable solutions, and ensure that all developments undergo rigorous testing and review. Effective communication is crucial in this role, as you will frequently interact with colleagues to thoroughly understand problems and convey clear solutions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Evolve our Authentication/Authorization microservices architecture by refining the current ones and ensuring smooth usage throughout the Farfetch ecosystem.
  • Excel our engineering teams with amazing tools, frameworks, and libs that increase the productivity of the entire department.
  • Coach and support development teams on best practices and the usage of the tools we provide them.
  • Monitor, maintain, and support the existing services, tools, and libraries.
  • Work closely with Senior and Principal Engineers, as well as other teams at Farfetch (Data, Product, and Security), to define the team's technical roadmap and solutions.
  • Cooperate with other teams to ensure the technical feasibility of the scope of the projects.
  • Evolve your technical capabilities to the next level while using state-of-the-art technologies (.NET, Mongo, Cassandra, Kafka, Redis, Docker, Duende Identity Server, OAuth/OpenID).

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Proficient in object-oriented languages (C# .NET) with a deep understanding of OOP principles, design patterns, and data structures.
  • A person knowledgeable in the Authorization/Authentication process with OAuth/OpenId.
  • A person who is passionate about code quality and has good knowledge of testing strategies to improve product quality.
  • A person who is autonomous and able to make important technical decisions that will have a positive impact on our platform.
  • A person interested in distributed and large-scale systems, excited by the challenge of managing millions of identities in real-time, and passionate about solving complex problems.
  • A person who stays on top of all the best practices of modern software development.
  • A professional who is experienced in NoSQL and/or SQL databases.
  • A professional with experience working with Agile (SCRUM/Kanban) methodologies is also a plus.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
