About This Role:

Join Crusoe as an Applications Estimator and play a vital role in driving sales growth by acting as the critical technical link between customer requests, sales strategy, and final manufacturing proposals. In this role, you will be responsible for meticulously estimating project costs, ensuring quotation accuracy, and managing the seamless handoff to internal engineering and production teams.

This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong technical foundation in electrical manufacturing, exceptional communication skills, and a collaborative spirit. Your work directly ensures the competitive pricing, scope accuracy, and overall profitability of Crusoe’s custom engineered infrastructure projects. This is a full-time position.

What You’ll Be Working On:

  • Customer & Sales Liaison: Interface directly with customers and their technical consultants to clarify project scope, resolve technical ambiguities, and gather essential requirements for accurate bids.
  • Scope of Work Development: Generate detailed, formal written Scope of Work (SOW) documents defining all services, deliverables, and specifications required for each project.
  • Meticulous Scope Alignment: Align on project requirements and exclusions with excruciating detail, documenting all parameters prior to launching the hard bid process.
  • Technical Document Review: Analyze customer-provided specifications, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and single-line schematics to confirm technical completeness and feasibility.
  • Costing & Pricing Models: Develop, maintain, and refine standardized pricing tools, cost models, and BOM templates to streamline quoting by leveraging historical project data.
  • BOM & Vendor Pricing: Collaborate with in-house engineering teams and customer representatives to compile accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and secure current pricing and lead times for all components.
  • Vendor Quote Analysis: Validate technical pricing data and vendor quotes to ensure accuracy across electrical switchboards, switchgear, and custom modular buildings.
  • Labor & Engineering Calculation: Calculate estimated labor hours for fabrication, painting, assembly, and wiring, incorporating necessary design engineering hours.
  • Quotation Generation: Produce formal customer quotations and collaborate with the Applications Team to review proposals and establish appropriate markups and strategic pricing.
  • Documentation & Process Optimization: Maintain proper documentation for each Request for Quote (RFQ) in designated electronic job files while continually driving department process improvements.
  • Business Collaboration: Provide accurate cost models and margin data to leadership to support strategic revenue and profitability targets.
  • Engineering Collaboration: Collaborate closely with application and design engineers to ensure specifications are properly quoted and drive to resolve all grey areas in scope.
  • Lead by Example: Build and audit robust pricing tools to ensure consistency and accuracy across all outgoing bids while setting high standards across the estimating department.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Education & Practical Experience: Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Engineering, Technology, Construction Management, or a related field with 4+ years of estimating experience; OR 5-8 years of direct experience in estimating, costing, and technical sales in an engineered-to-order manufacturing environment.
