About the role

Original posting from Nebius

About Nebius:

Nebius is leading a new era in cloud infrastructure for the global AI economy. We are building a full-stack AI cloud platform that supports developers and enterprises from data and model training through to production deployment, without the cost and complexity of building large in-house AI/ML infrastructure.

Built by engineers, for engineers. From large-scale GPU orchestration to inference optimization, we own the hard problems across compute, storage, networking and applied AI.

Listed on Nasdaq (NBIS) and headquartered in Amsterdam, we have a global footprint with R&D hubs across Europe, the UK, North America and Israel. Our team of 1,500+ includes hundreds of engineers with deep expertise across hardware, software and AI R&D.

The role

We are seeking an experienced Structured Cabling Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of structured cabling and physical network infrastructure for hyperscale and enterprise data center environments.

This remote position will be responsible for developing scalable, standards-compliant fiber and copper cabling designs from concept through construction and deployment. The engineer will work closely with data center design, network engineering, construction, operations, vendors, and deployment teams to ensure cabling infrastructure meets capacity, reliability, maintainability, and future-growth requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Develop end-to-end structured cabling designs for new-build, expansion, retrofit, and capacity-add data center projects.

Design fiber-optic and copper cabling systems supporting data center network, compute, storage, management, security, and building infrastructure.

Develop MDF, IDF, MMR, network room, meet-me-room, and data hall connectivity designs.

Create fiber backbone, horizontal cabling, interconnect, cross-connect, and equipment connectivity architectures.

Develop single-line diagrams, cabling schematics, rack elevations, patching diagrams, pathway layouts, fiber routing plans, and connectivity schedules.

Determine fiber counts, cable types, connector types, patch-panel requirements, termination methods, and pathway capacity.

Design solutions using single-mode and multimode fiber, including high-density fiber connectivity and MPO/MTP-based systems where applicable.

Specify Category 6/6A copper infrastructure and associated patching systems.

Perform cable pathway, tray, conduit, ladder rack, and containment capacity calculations.

Coordinate structured cabling requirements with network architecture, electrical, mechanical, architectural, security, and construction disciplines.

Review construction drawings, BIM/CAD models, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and vendor proposals.

Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support material forecasting and procurement.

Create and maintain cabling standards, design guidelines, naming conventions, labeling requirements, and installation specifications.

Ensure designs comply with applicable TIA, BICSI, IEEE, NEC/NFPA, ISO/IEC, and manufacturer standards.

Support data center capacity planning and determine future fiber, copper, rack, and pathway requirements.

Review contractor installation packages and ensure field implementation aligns with approved designs.

Support fiber testing, copper certification, commissioning, punch-list resolution, and project closeout.

Review OTDR, insertion-loss, and certification test results where applicable.

Participate remotely in design reviews, construction coordination meetings, and technical troubleshooting.

Conduct occasional site surveys and field inspections when required.

Identify design risks, constructability issues, capacity constraints, and opportunities for standardization.

Maintain accurate as-built documentation, cable schedules, port assignments, rack elevations, and connectivity records.

Work across multiple concurrent data center projects while maintaining design quality and schedule commitments.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience designing structured cabling, telecommunications, network physical infrastructure, or data center infrastructure.

Strong experience with mission-critical or data center environments.

Demonstrated knowledge of fiber-optic infrastructure, including single-mode and multimode fiber.
