About the role

ABOUT BASE

Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Base is scaling the future of energy into new markets, and we’re looking for a Forward Deployed Electrician to spearhead field execution during critical expansion phases. You will serve as the technical authority and operational backbone on the front lines of every new geo launch.

In this role, long-term travel is the standard, not the exception. While normally stationed in one of our operating hubs (Austin, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, or future expansion cities), you will be deployed for months at a time to lead field operations, train local contractor networks, uphold quality control standards, and ensure brand-new energy markets launch flawlessly. You aren’t just installing systems—you are building the operational foundation for Base across the country.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Forward Deployed Electrician, your focus spans market launches, contractor enablement, high-tier field service, and quality assurance:

  • Market Launch Operations: Deploy to new geographies for extended periods to establish field execution standards, set up regional workflow protocols, and drive early launch momentum.
  • Contractor Training & Enablement: Onboard, train, and manage third-party electrical contractors and local crews, ensuring they master Base hardware, safety protocols, and installation standards.
  • Quality Control & Commissioning: Conduct rigorous quality assurance audits on contractor installations, resolving complex edge cases, performing critical rework, and ensuring compliance before grid connection.
  • AHJ & Regulatory Leadership: Serve as the primary technical interface for local inspectors, utilities, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) in brand-new, unfamiliar regulatory environments.
  • Advanced Field Diagnostics: Lead root-cause troubleshooting for complex electrical, battery, and firmware/hardware integration issues that require advanced technical problem-solving.
  • Feedback Loop to Engineering: Act as the direct bridge between field reality and our engineering/product teams, delivering high-signal feedback to optimize hardware design and installation efficiency.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Credentials: Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician license (multi-state licensure or willingness to acquire Reciprocity/Travel licenses is a huge plus).
  • Experience: 5+ years of electrical experience, with a heavy emphasis on residential/commercial energy storage systems (ESS), solar microgrids, EV infrastructure, or generator integration.
  • Travel Readiness: Willingness and ability to travel up to 75%+ of the time, including extended multi-month field deployments to new markets across the US.
  • Leadership & Influence: Proven ability to manage, train, and hold third-party contractors and local crews accountable to high technical standards without direct authority.
  • Adaptability & Grit: Comfort operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where local codes, utility requirements, and logistical dynamics vary by location.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex electrical concepts to engineering teams, local contractors, and city inspectors alike.

BENEFITS & COMPENSATION

  • Compensation: Competitive hourly base rate (commensurate with license tier and experience) + comprehensive travel per diem, covered lodging, and deployment incentives.
  • Benefits: Full health, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), and equity options.
  • Growth: Unmatched exposure to market-launch strategy, field operations leadership, and direct partnership with hardware/software engineering.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Deployments team is a fast-moving group of problem-solvers who believe great systems are built in the field—not on paper. We value people who show up, take ownership, and do the hard work day in and day out. As a Forward Deployed Electrician, you will be the tip of the spear as Base expands nationwide, ensuring every new market opens with unyielding quality and operational speed.

Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.

OUR VALUES

  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.

DO THE BEST WORK OF YOUR LIFE AT BASE.
