About the role

Original posting from Braveheart Bio via Greenhouse

About us:

Braveheart Bio is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing therapies for patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and other serious cardiovascular diseases. Our lead product candidate, BHB-1893, is a next-generation oral small-molecule cardiac myosin inhibitor (CMI) being developed for the treatment of obstructive HCM (oHCM) and non-obstructive HCM (nHCM). Braveheart’s goal is to improve the treatment options for these patients by enhancing speed of onset, depth of gradient response, systolic safety, reversibility and reducing prescribing complexity.

With a proven leadership team, a strong financial foundation, and a high-value late-stage asset, Braveheart Bio represents an outstanding opportunity for ambitious, mission-driven professionals to make a tangible impact in a high-profile and rapidly evolving therapeutic area.

The role:

The Associate Director, Clinical Science will serve as a key scientific contributor within Braveheart Bio's Clinical Development organization, partnering closely with the Clinical Development Medical Directors to shape and execute the clinical and translational science strategy for BHB-1893 across the hypertrophic cardiomyopathy spectrum (oHCM and nHCM).

This role will play a critical part in preparing BHB-1893 for global Phase 3 execution and regulatory submissions. The Associate Director, Clinical Science will provide scientific leadership for protocol design and endpoint strategy, clinical data review and quality, independent analysis of clinical, biomarker, and exploratory endpoint data, and the scientific content of clinical study reports, publications, and regulatory documents. Working cross-functionally with Biometrics, Clinical Pharmacology, Data Management, and Clinical Operations, this individual will translate complex datasets into clear scientific insights that inform program decisions, drawing on sarcomere biology and disease-specific pharmacodynamic considerations. The role will also serve as a key clinical science point of contact for Braveheart's global co-development partnership, working closely with the partner team to support clinical data review, cleaning, and reconciliation, and ensure consistent scientific interpretation of data across global development programs. In addition, the Associate Director, Clinical Science will help represent the science of BHB-1893 externally with key opinion leaders, advisory boards, and the broader cardiovascular scientific community.

Key responsibilities:

Partner with the Clinical Development leads to shape translational and clinical science strategy for BHB-1893 across oHCM and nHCM, in partnership with Medical Directors and cross-functional program leadership

Drive scientific input into protocol design and endpoint selection, drawing on sarcomere biology and disease-specific pharmacodynamic considerations

Lead clinical and scientific review of clinical data listings, identifying and resolving data anomalies in partnership with Biometrics

Serve as a key clinical science point of contact with Braveheart's global co-development partner, supporting clinical data review, cleaning, and reconciliation activities, and resolving data discrepancies across global Phase 3 programs

Independently analyze clinical, biomarker, and exploratory endpoint data to generate scientific insights that inform program strategy

Develop exploratory analyses with Biometrics and Clinical Pharmacology to interrogate complex datasets

Author and review clinical study reports, investigator brochures, abstracts/publications, and scientific components of regulatory submissions, including NDA/MAA

Represent the science of BHB-1893 with key opinion leaders, at scientific conferences, and in advisory board settings

Required experience & skills:

PhD or equivalent research doctorate (field flexible); other advanced degrees (e.g., PharmD, MS with substantial relevant experience) will be considered

6+ years of experience in clinical development and/or translational research

Demonstrated experience conducting hands-on review and quality control of clinical data listings

Experience collaborating with co-development partners, CROs, or other external organizations on clinical data review, cleaning, and reconciliation, ideally in global Phase 3 trials through database lock

Strong independent data analysis skills, including the ability to identify patterns, anomalies, and scientific signals in complex clinical datasets

Working knowledge of cardiovascular disease biology, ideally including sarcomere biology and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

Experience authoring or contributing to clinical study protocols, clinical study reports, and regulatory documents (e.g. NDA/MAA submissions)

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for bridging between scientific and business participants, for negotiating timelines and for effective international collaboration

Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and remain comfortable with change and ambiguity

Flexible, proactive, and hands-on mindset with a roll-up-your-sleeves, can-do attitude

Preferred experience & skills:

Programming experience (e.g., R, Python, or SAS) sufficient to analyze clinical datasets

Track record of developing novel analytic approaches to complex biomarker or clinical trial data

Experience engaging with KOLs, scientific advisory boards, or presenting at cardiovascular conferences (e.g., ESC, AHA, HFSA)
