About the role

🎤 WHY VOIZE? BECAUSE WE’RE MORE THAN JUST A JOB!

At voize, we’re revolutionizing the healthcare industry with AI: Nurses simply speak their documentation into their smartphones, and our AI automatically generates the correct entries. This saves each nurse an average of 39 minutes per day, improves the quality of documentation, and makes their daily work much more rewarding.

Voize is YCombinator-funded, already in use at over 600 senior care homes, and has grown by 100% in the last 90 days. Our customers save over 3.5 million hours annually – time spent on people instead of paperwork.

But this is just the beginning. With our self-developed voize AI, we’re transforming not only the healthcare industry, but also have the potential to create value in many other sectors – from healthcare to inspections.

As a dynamic team, we blend cutting-edge technology with social impact. And now, it’s your turn to join us!

💡 YOUR MISSION:

As an Engineering Manager (m/f/d) you lead a team of engineers building the products that thousands of care professionals rely on every day. You’re a former software engineer ideally a tech lead who made the move into leadership without leaving the technology behind. You grow people, shape how the team works, and still sit at the table when architecture decisions are made. You bring the energy and pace of a fast-moving scale-up and help your team ship high-quality, scalable, and reliable software – fast.

🚀 YOUR DAILY BUSINESS – NO TWO DAYS ARE ALIKE

  • Lead, grow, and develop a high-performing engineering team

Hire top talent, run meaningful 1:1s, give clear and honest feedback, and create real growth paths so every engineer on your team levels up.

  • Stay hands-on and drive technical design together with your engineers

Take part in technical discussions, review designs and code, and co-own architecture decisions with your team – you lead by understanding the details, not from a distance.

  • Foster an inclusive, high-trust, high-ownership culture

Create an environment where engineers feel valued, empowered, and psychologically safe – while keeping the bar high.

  • Align technical direction with product and company strategy

Work closely with Product and leadership to make sure engineering priorities drive business impact, balancing speed with long-term technical health.

  • Ensure high-quality, scalable, and reliable software delivery

Champion best practices for testing, architecture, and code quality to keep our systems performant, secure, and scalable.

  • Own execution and keep the momentum high

Drive planning, unblock the team, manage risks proactively, and make sure we deliver on what matters – at scale-up speed.

  • Continuously improve how we build

Shape engineering rituals, developer experience, tooling, and CI/CD workflows to reduce friction and maximize impact.

  • Collaborate closely with ML, Product, Data, and GTM

Bridge engineering and other disciplines so everyone is aligned on technical and business needs.

🤝 YOUR SKILLSET – WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • A strong software engineering background – you’ve built and shipped production systems yourself, ideally as a Tech Lead or Staff/Senior Engineer before moving into management
  • Still hands-on: you’re comfortable going deep in technical discussions, challenging and shaping architecture and system design together with other engineers, and you keep up with modern tooling
  • Proven people leadership experience as an Engineering Manager or in a similar role – you’ve hired, coached, given tough feedback, and grown engineers into stronger versions of themselves
  • A strong track record in hiring and building high-performing engineering teams
  • High energy, drive, and ownership – you’re fired up by ambitious goals, thrive in ambiguity, and bring momentum to everyone around you
  • A fit for a fast-moving scale-up: you move quickly, prioritize ruthlessly, and are comfortable with change
  • Experience building reliable, high-quality production systems with strong engineering practices (backend experience is a plus; Kotlin and mobile are a bonus)
  • Ability to drive technical strategy and connect it to business and product goals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across teams
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including Product, Data, ML, CS, and GTM
  • Fluent in English (C1); German is a plus

🌱 GROWING TOGETHER – WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AT VOIZE

  • Become a co-creator of our success with stock options
  • Our office is in Berlin, and you are open for Hybrid working
  • We provide flexible working hours because you know best when you work most efficiently!
  • Access to various learning platforms (e.g., Blinkist, Audible, etc.)
  • We have an open culture and organize regular work weeks and team events to collaborate and bond
  • We are a fast-growing startup, so you'll encounter various challenges, providing the perfect foundation for rapid personal growth
  • Your work will make a real impact, helping alleviate the workload for healthcare professionals
  • Free Germany Ticket and Urban Sports Club membership
  • 30 days of vacation – plus your birthday off
