ABOUT BASE

Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a manufacturing quality technician to join our team. This role focuses on continuous monitoring of the quality of our parts and processes throughout our manufacturing lines. You will conduct product-level testing and measurement, work with manufacturing and supplier engineering teams to identify and root cause manufacturing problems, validate new parts and processes, and manage non-conforming material.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform measurements and testing of incoming material as part of our incoming quality control process
  • Execute our manufacturing quality control plan by regularly testing parts and auditing processes and equipment
  • Identify and manage non-conforming material throughout the manufacturing process, including quarantining of material, repair, and disposition
  • Identify and investigate process abnormalities and excursions, working with process and equipment engineering teams to root cause issues and implement corrective actions
  • Conduct process trials and design of experiments (DoEs) with cross-functional engineering teams to validate process and part improvements

What You’ll Bring

  • 2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing or test lab environment or equivalent educational background in Mechanical/electrical engineering or similar.
  • Ability to understand and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and the ability to measure part features accordingly.
  • Experience with CMMs, pCMMs or other high-precision dimensional metrology equipment and associated metrology software (PC-DMIS, Polyworks, etc.) strongly preferred
  • Experience with various dimensional, mechanical, and electrical test and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, force gauges, digital multimeters, etc.)
  • Ability to work with and interpret data to drive action utilizing basic statistical analysis
  • Ability to work

About the Team

The Manufacturing Quality team is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and consistency of the products we build. We work directly on the factory floor alongside Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Hardware Engineering teams to monitor processes, investigate issues, and implement improvements that drive better outcomes for our customers. This team plays a critical role in identifying defects, validating new processes, and maintaining the quality standards required to scale manufacturing. If you enjoy hands-on problem solving, working with data, and making a direct impact on product quality, you'll fit right in.

Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.

OUR VALUES

  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.

DO THE BEST WORK OF YOUR LIFE AT BASE.
